Germany is a representative democracy just like the United States. This means that the public elects
an official that represents them in making decisions. The current events in Germany are a example
of that. Angela Merkel, the chancellor of Germany is representing its citizens. Like any other
government, the public isn't always happy with the choices a representative makes. In this case, the
refugee issue is making many Germans extremely angry, they feel as the choice to let nearly 1
million refugees into Germany and its surrounding country was a crucial decision for everyone

Which Is More Effective at Bringing about Political...
The purpose of this essay will be to determine whether New social movements or New politics
parties are more effective with bringing about change with a focus on green politics. I will look at
the structures of a political system that enables Green political parties to gain representation. Often
Green political parties start from grassroots social movements, which can make it difficult to
separate the influence that they have on policy change from the movement. Traditionally New
political parties, with the exception of Green and new religious parties (Boyeller, 2014), struggle to
gain and retain some control in government due to the resilience of traditional parties (Siavelis
2006). This occurs due to New political parties being largely based on only a few issues (Siavelis,
2006), which then becomes irrelevant when the issue is absorbed by the traditional party.
In contrast, Greens parties often take on range of post–materialist issues (Kitschelt 1993) in addition
to ecological issues. Greens parties are considered some of the 'most successful in terms of
persistence and sustainability' (Boyeller 2014) of the New politics parties. However their success is
somewhat dependent whether the system favours a two–party system or proportional multi–partism.
I will discuss the popularity of Green parties in proportional representation multi–party systems in
Europe and the Australian Senate.

The Holocaust had a profound effect on modern history. Millions of European Jews lost their lives
during this brutal extermination period. Many Jewish professionals were removed from their
businesses and denied education. Thousands of Jewish businesses were ransacked and destroyed
throughout Germany. In the middle of the night, Nazi officials broke into Jewish homes kidnapping
all Jews regardless of age and gender. These men, women, and children were now confined in
Jewish Ghettos as they awaited deportation to the concentration camps. In these brutal concentration
camps, men, women, and children faced terrible conditions. Forced labor was common and
individuals often died from exhaustion and poor working conditions. Prisoners were denied medical
care and food leading to disease being rampant and many dying from starvation. Brutal executions
were commonplace, and many were shot upon entrance to the camp. Those who were lucky to
survive entry were often sent to showers and gassed. The holocaust is a chilling memory of both the
brutality of humans and the atrocities of World War II at the hands of the Third Reich. In August of
1988, German citizens became outraged over the lack of a central Holocaust memorial in Germany.

bourgeoisie to want a modern German nation–state with its own cultural identity. The state would

Propaganda is defined as "information or ideas that are spread by an organized group or government
to influence people's opinions, especially by not giving all the facts or by secretly emphasizing only
one way of looking at the facts" ("English Definition of 'propaganda'"). Propaganda has been used
throughout history, but had a drastic role in World War I by rallying up chauvinistic countries to
fight for their allies and win the war. Many people believed that the Allies were fighting for a noble
cause while the Central Powers were belligerent aggressors due to the propaganda that depicted
Germany with malicious traits. At last, Germany was greatly injured by the war and Austrian–born,
World War I veteran fighter, Adolf Hitler tried to avenge the German deaths. Therefore, he sought to
be the leader of Germany and subsequently won the German elections, and became the fascist leader
of the Nazi party from 1933–1945. Germans needed a leader who would bring their nation back to a
