The magazine segment focuses on advertising an opportunity for a new school to participate in an educational documentary. Although it advertises the documentary, the primary aim is to persuade teachers to consider the opportunities of their school's participation. The dense text and focus on one program indicates the magazine is not aimed primarily at entertainment. Using the magazine may limit the audience attracted since it is mostly read by teachers.

2. The television section of the TES is very
small focusing on the individual
program. This allows the audience to
have a clear focus but also makes it
clear that the magazine is not
directed to the entertainment side of
education. The primary aim of this
magazine segment is to advertise the
opportunity for a new school to
participate in the documentary.
Although this advertises the
documentary that is not the primary
aim. It can be described as a
persuasive piece due to its use of lexis
for example 'the school is now over
scribed', this allows the audience
(teachers) to weigh up the
opportunities there participation
could have. Overall I think that using
TES magazine may limit how much of
my audience I actually attract
because the magazine is mostly read
by teachers.
TES MAGAZINE
3. This is the title of the
article segment. The
color red represents energy
and fun which is reflexive of
the section it is
representing. Television can
be seen as a fun pass time.
The contrast of white
writing allows the audience
attracted to that particular
section because they can
immediately see what it
says. The capital letters
emphasizes what the
section is about.
Title
The text title draws the
audience in with the
mention of programs they
may be familiar with.
However, it does not
necessarily state that they
are speaking about theses
programs which means that
the audience will have to
be familiar with the
educational program
before reading the text
which links in with
pragmatics. The bold
typography of the headline
focuses the audiences
attention on what the
article is about adding
emphasis to the main point
of the article.Text
The text is fairly dense
which emphasizes the fact
that the magazines main
focus is not television. The
primary focus of the text is
to advertise and persuade
the audience to enter
their schools as the next
stars of the program.
Image
The use if this image adds
humor to the piece because
for teachers this is a student
expression all too familiar. It
allows them to think more
about the interesting students
they have in their school and
how they may react to being
on television. The round frame
allows the image to fit in with
the small text but still allows us
to see what it is showing.
