FFA engaged ISFM to conduct the first ever National Facilities Audit in Australia to identify, evaluate, and analyze every outdoor football facility in the country. The audit aimed to help develop football nationally and support Australia's bid to host the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup. ISFM administered a sophisticated online system to log details on all facilities and integrate mapping technology to communicate the results. The audit provided FFA, member federations, and clubs with a long-term tool to strategically grow the game of football in Australia.

Football Federation Australia National Facilities Audit
1. FFA NATIONAL FACILITIES AUDIT
CASE STUDY
Project Title: National Facilities Audit
Client: Football Federation Australia (FFA)
Project Description
FFA engaged ISFM to undertake a National Facilities
Audit (NFA) to identify, evaluate and analyse every out-
door football facility being used across Australia. The
audit was developed to underpin the long-term develop-
ment of football nationally, and at the same time provide
specific facility information to support Australia’s bid to
host either the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup’s.
The NFA was the first of its kind to be undertaken in
Australia, with the following key objectives having been
established:
− Identification of priority areas based
on football participation and facility
utilisation
− Development of Government en-
gagement strategies based on
future facility requirements
− Development of strategic priorities
as they relate to football facilities
− Better understanding as to the
quality and usage patterns of
grassroots football facilities
− Determination of the degree to
which current football facilities are
meeting current and future demand
− Determination of the current facility
landscape supporting football
− Identification of all prospective
football facilities to support the bid
− Actively engaging and developing
relations with Member Federations,
clubs and the broader football
community
The NFA was administered via a sophisticated online
system that has provided a long-term tool for FFA, Mem-
ber Federations and football clubs to use in strategic
decision making processes, and their efforts to grow the
game of football in Australia. The system integrates
mapping technology to communicate the results of the
audit in a dynamic and meaningful manner.
