1. In the film Scream, the opening shot shows a wide view of the house in
which the horror movie is set. The shot also contains the shot of the rope
swing which is foreboding to how the young girl eventually dies, getting
hanged.
2. The opening sequence of this film shows a POV (point of view) shot of a
murder taking place. As the scene progresses we see the murderer leave
the house and then it is revealed that he is a child. This zoom/out shot is
very effective in revealing the horror of the situation and sets up a film with
no limits.
3. Dawn of the dead (2004) opens with a normal family going to bed. The following
morning the zombie outbreak has spread massively across the United States. To
show the change in the situation and the destruction which has been caused, they
use a wide shot of the street with people being chased and cars which have been
destroyed. This establishes the films apocalypse and captivates the audience.
