ANSYS ANALYSIS - CANTILEVER BEAMS

1. ANSYS QUESTIONS – 150803
Consider a steel cantilever beam having a cross section
of 50 X 50mm is having a length of 1.5m. The beam is
loaded with a point load of 1200N at a distance of 0.3m
fromthe fixed end and a motor weighing 500N is placed
at the distance of 0.45m fromthe fixed end. The base of
the motor extends for a distance of 0.05m. The beam
also contains a UVL of 800N/mfor a length of 0.2m,
which starts at a distance of 0.4m fromthe free end.
i) Find the deflectionand stresses in the beam.
ii) Also find the deflectionof the beam at a distance
of 0.5,1 and 1.5m fromthe fixed end.
iii) Determine the point at which the maximum
deflectionoccurs.
iv) Draw the shear force and bending moment
diagram.
