1. Ram (non Tec)
• Ram is when you store memory for a short period off time
• Ram is also measured in different sizes (1GB,2GB,4GB,16GB)
• Ram also stands for random access memory
• Ram is used for storing data for running programs
2. Hard drive (non Tec)
• The hard drive is were you store your date and your programmes
• Hard drives are measured in gigabytes, megabytes and terabytes
• You can connect the hard drive by a sata cable
• They make noise and have moving parts
3. Ram (TEC)
• Most computers used a single data rate before
2002
• There are 3 types of ram which are SDR which
stands for single data rate ,DDR double data
rate , DDR 2 double data rate 2 and DDR3
double data rate 3
• DDR 3 is faster then SDR
• DDR 3 average price of a ram is £29.00
4. Hard drive (TEC)
• A hard drive is a data storage device used for storing
and retrieving data an HDD retains its data when the
power is turned off
• The two most common sizes for modern hard drive
are 3.5-inch in desktop computers and 2.5-inch in
laptops.
• The new type of hard drive is called solid state drive
• The solid state drive has a much faster read/write
speed then hard drives have
• they have no moving parts that means they don’t make
no noise or break easily
5. Power supply (non Tec)
• A power supply is a device that supplies electric
power to an electrical load
• The term is most commonly applied to electric
power converters that convert one form of
electrical energy to another
• The power supply gives out the right amount off
power to each components
• Power supply changes AC power into DC power
• Psu stands for power supply unit
6. Power supply (TEC)
• A power supply unit (PSU) converts mains AC
to low-voltage regulated DC power for the
internal components of a computer.
• Modern personal computers universally use a
switched-mode power supply
• Most modern desktop personal computer
power supplies conform to the ATX
specification, which includes form factor and
voltage tolerances.
7. C.P.U
• The cpu carries out the instructions and it is
the brain of the computer
• Cpu stands for central processing unit
• The cpu works on a list of instruction staring
from top to bottom one by one
• The cpu is measured in hertz and megahertz
8. CPU Tec
• It is an essential part off the computer
• The computer will not work with out the C.P.U
• The C.P.U is the brain off the computer and
gives out instructions
9. Motherboard non TEC
• The motherboard is the heart off the computer and is were all the
components are placed
• All the hardware is connected to the motherboard by cables
• Sata,
• PS/2 Keyboard Port
• D-Sub VGA Port
• DVI-D Port
• USB 2.0 Port
• RJ-45 Port
• Audio Jacks
• The motherboard comes in different colures like black, red and
yellow but it is usually green
• Parts that are removable are the cpu, ram and memory
10. Motherboard non TEC
• The motherboard holds all the components
• The motherboard is the heart off the
computer and with out it the computer will
not work
