«Manhattan»
(слова привітання написані вчителем)
You have a date to celebrate
Which comes but once a year
And so today we’d like to say
From all of us to you.
Be healthy, be wealthy
And we are glad to see you.
The more we are together, together, together
With friends – our fans and jury
And opponents you’ll see.
The more we get together, the merrier we’ll be.
4. (the melody of the Russian song «В лесу родилась
ёлочка».).
«Ladies and Gentlemen»
Good morning to you
Good morning to you
Good morning, dear jury
We are glad to see you.
Up-up-up-up-up
Time to begin our game
Be attentive, be just and determine
Who is better of us
And good morning.
Good morning, good morning
Good morning, dear guests
Good morning, opponents and fans
Good morning all our friends.

5. 1. Greetings:
The screen of the team «Manhattan»
(the team come in with the song)
America, America, we lager to see you
America, America, we fall in love with you.
- Why do people travel?
- I think they do it in order to get new
impressions.
- From my point of view people travel in order to
know something new.
- In my opinion they do it in order to relax and
return to their work with new strenthes.
- It sums to me that I used to travel in order
rewide my outlook.
- If you go to New-York, you’ll have everything
that you can get from an interesting and
fascinating journey.
- And we’ll go to New-York. We made up our
mind to call our team «Manhattan», because it’s
the heart of the economic capital of the USA, the
centre of call capitalist world.
Our motto is:…
- Our friends, fans and jury will travel with us.
The musical greeting

interesting news. Our team is sent to London for 3
months in order to study the English Language.
We are considered to be the lovers of English that’s
why our school №1 of the town of Pershotravensk
decided it.
- We call our «Ladies and Gentlemen» because these
two words characterize the English people.
- Oh, it’s very nice! We have a good chance to have
a talk with Englishmen. I think we’ll study there
English perfectly.
- I say, when shall we go?
- We’ll go just now.
- What way of travelling do we choose.
- As far as I know we can go there by train, by plan
and by ship.
7. - I’d like to go there as quickly as possible.

The team «Manhattan».
- Attention, attention! The arriving of the plane
Dnipropetrovs’k – New York is detained for a long
time because of the bad weather.
- Oh, my God! What shall we do all this time?
- I don’t want to waste time for nothing.
- Let’s try to amuse ourselves.
- How can we do it?
- We can sing some good songs and recite poems.
- I’d like to perform a song. As for as I know it’s an
American amusing song. Let’s sing it together.
1. Looby – Loo (ноты «ИЯШ» 5/91, стр. 61)
- As for me I know one more good song. If I am not
mistaken J. Lennon and McCartney song it many
years ago.
2. Madonna.
- I’ll tell you a very nice poem «Wait for Me» by K.
Simonov.
- Have you ever heard a popular song «Gangstar’s
paradise». Frankly speaking I don’t know exactly
but it seems to me Cooling sings it.
- Oh, yes. I can sing it with a great pleasure.
- Attention, attention! All passengers who have
tickets for the plane Dnipropetrovs’k – New York
please Come to the register room.
You plan will start in 10 minutes.
9. «Ladies and Gentlemen»
- Ladies and Gentlemen! We have been on our way
to London for a long time. And at last we are near
London. Our ship will be in London tomorrow. And
it is our last night on the board of ship.
- Oh, let’s have a good rest with music. As for as I
know all of us like music and poems and dances.
That’s why we have a good chance to enjoy our trip.
- We’ll sing a song: «Yesterday».
- We offer to listen to the song: «Good Day
Sunshine».
- I like poems very much and I’ll tell you «A
summer day» by Robert Burks with the Russian
translation.
- The girls will sing the song and dance. I think that
you’ll enjoy it too.
5. Home – task. «Ladies and Gentlemen».
- You are welcome to London. Ladies and
gentlemen, you have arrived one of the best cities in
the world. It was created by beauty, it breathes with
beauty and you will be presented with beauty.
- Of course, we know it. But we have too little time
to look through London. As Kosma Prootkov said: It
is impossible to see immense.
10. - You are quite right. But I try to show you the most
interesting places in London.
- What shall we begin with?
- First of all I’d like you answer such a question:
Whom do the English – men ask the god to save?
- I know that the English anthem begins with such
words and has the name «God, save the Queen
(King)».
- You are right. The Queen means very much for
English people. She is considered to be a symbol of
nation though she has no power. We have to see the
Residence of the Queen by all means, Buckingham
Palace.
- A favored time to see Buckingham Palace is 10:30
a.m. when we can see the changing of the Royal
guard. The Ceremony takes place every morning and
is a real theatrical performance. To the sound of a
brass band and words of command guards men form
and reform as they change position.
- Can we see the queen?
(виходить королева)
- Here I am. Would you like to see me? I have heard
about your arrival and I want to help you in your
travelling. I have never seen the Ukrainian pupils. I
am very glad to meet you in my kingdom.
- She is very nice, king and noble. But how nice it is
here! Look through it.
11. - Let’s see the spacious oval square and the
Monument to Queen Victoria which was built in
1911.
- And now let’s go to Westminster Abbey. It is
regarded as the centre of the Westminster Area
which is sometimes called the city of Westminster. It
is the ancient church. Westminster Abbey is the
most beautiful and one of the oldest parts of
Westminster.
- I know that most of the queens and kings of
England have been crowned here. All visitors are
always fascinated with beautiful sculptures and
magnificent architecture.
- Let’s see the Westminster Palace or the Houses of
Parliament. It is one of the most beautiful and
famous buildings in Modern London too.
- It we cross a wide but always full of traffic street,
we shall get to the Palace of Westminster, the seat of
the English government, meeting – palace of
Parliament. In the South part of the building you can
see a clock tower Big Ben.
(В магн. записі бій годинника)
- As for me I’d like to go to the famous British
Museum where the best library is. There are books
of all countries and all times. Many outstanding
people worked there.
- Excuse me for my interrupting you we can’t
imagine London without seeing Trafalgar square.
12. - We are now at Trafalgar square – the central
square of the city.
- Look! There is the greatest picture museum. Here
is the monument know as Nelson’s Column. The
Column is 185 feet high. It is guarded at the base by
4 bronze lions.
- It seems to me that we must go to Hyde Park now,
because it is the most democratic park in the world,
as anyone can say anything he likes there. It is used
for every king of public occasion.
(Спів пташок в магн. записі)
- How nice it is here. It is really a corner of paradise.
- Hyde Park was once a part of a forest. The Corner
near the Marble Arch is known as the Speaker’s
Corner. The Speaker’s corner of the park is always a
centre of activity. Public debates are held there
nearly every day. Sunday is the most popular day
and you will usually find some people standing on
their soap – boxes and making speeches.
- Do you know there is a boating lake, a rose garden
and a restaurant? There is an open theatre. We can
see and listen to the concert.
(Стоячий на ящику звертається до присутніх)
- Listen to our song, please. (Любу англійську
пісню)
(Члени команди беруть парасольки і виходять зі
словами)
England rain, England rain
13. Always rain and rain
Open umbrellas
And go away.
(Слова віршу написала вчитель)
«Manhattan»
- Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! You are on
the board of the plan Dnipropetrovs’k – New York.
Please, fasten you seat bells and sit down
comfortably.
- Tanya, we could travel by train and then by ship.
- Why didn’t we do it? No doubt travelling by train
has its own advantages.
- You can sit in your compartment and enjoy a
pleasant talk with your neighbors.
- Or simply look out of the window and watch
picturesque landscape of the territory which the train
is going through.
- Of course you know that the fastest way of
travelling is by air.
- Yes, I understand we have only one lesson in order
to go for a walk about such a big city as New-York.
- Besides the pilot and his assistants and me will
serve you according to the international standards.
But the only thing which I don’t like is a high price
for the air ticket.
- Don’t worry our school pays for our journey. We
have such a rich sponsor as the mine
«Pershotravneva».
14. ***
- Our plane will land in New-York in some minutes.
Please, don’t stand up during landing.
***
- At last we are in New-York.
- Who has ever been to new-York?
- Nobody of us haven’t been to this city and it goes
without saying that we are lager to see it.
- Let’s go for a walk with a song:
New-York, haven’t London’s rain
American insane
You have a colour face
You are the best in any case.
- The name of our team is «Manhattan». Shall we
visit it?
- Certainly, we are going there now. I am sure that
you know that the centre of New-York is located on
Grand Island of Manhattan which lies between, the
Hudson River and the East one.
- I know that it’s the richest district of New-York
and the most expensive shops are situated as well.
- I have a big dream to buy a dress from Christian
Dior and I’d like to visit this shop.
(вона заходить в бутик і купляє сукню)
- What places of interest can we visit in New-York?
- I think we should see the Statue of Liberty.
- How can we get there?
15. - We afraid of being losing in this city.
- Let’s ask about it the real New-Yorker.
- Take into consideration. The fact that New-York is
carefully planned and it’s easy for a stronger to find
his way there. The Americans have not given the
New-York streets names of their famous people but
have called them by ordinal numbers or letters of the
Alphabet, second street, 1-st street, Avenue-A,
avenue-B.
(виходить дівчина з бутика і говорить у новій
сукні)
- My dream came true.
- You look like a real modern American girl.
- It suits you very well.
- And this colour matches with your eyes.
- If I am not mistaken we are going to visit the
Statue of Liberty.
- We’ll be there in few minutes. Let’s go along this
street.
- Oh, who are those people?
- Negroes.
- I understand, but why are they sitting here?
- From my point of view they are poor. They are
singing songs in order to earn for their living.
(Дають гроші)
16. The Song of Negros «Alabama»
(Підходять до Статуї Свободи)
- There we should take a guide. He’ll tell us all
interesting facts according to this beautiful Statue.
- Would you so kind to do an excursion above this
place of interest?
- With a great pleasure. It’s splendid Statue which
stand on a small Liberty Island at the entrance of
New-York. If I am not mistaken its top reaches 305
feet above the water level. The figure shows a young
woman freeing herself from shackles, she holds a
torch in her right hand above his head and in her left
hand is a tablet with the date July, 4-th, 1776 on it
witch symbolized the Declaration of Independence.
The Statue of Liberty was built on funs collected in
France of those days.
- What is this big building?
- I know, let me to say.
- Of course.
17. - It’s the House of the United Nations Orga –
nization. As far as I remember the main head –
quarters of the United Nations are in New-York. Pay
attention to it. The General Assembly is held in the
lower building. But as for the United Nations
Organization secretariat occupies the higher one.
- Let’s visit it. I’d like to see all those floors.
(заходять в зал, де проходить прес-конференція)
- It seems to me it’s a press – conference. And that
man is Хав’єр Салана. Oh, we should stay there and
ask some questions:
Хав’єр.
- I’m very glad to see you and I listen to you with a
great attention.
- I’m a representative of BBC. What can you say
about the problem of foreign relations with the East
countries?
- Sorry to interrupt you. Let me introduce myself.
I’m the pupil of the 8-th form of school № 1 the
town of Pershotravensk of Ukraine K.V.
In my opinion I have more important and difficult
question.
- Do you work for world peace?
- Yes, we do.
- When will the peace be between me and G. I.?
Why should I do all my homework’s in order to get
a good mark? We ere not equal in our rights. It’s a
problem of the humanity.
18. - Oh, Valera. We can put the end of all conflicts but
your one is an exception. You’ll have to do all your
homework during last 4 year of studying at school.
***
- Oh, at last. I’m so tired. Let’s go for a work about
Broadway and visit real American casino.
- Casino is a play – hall and the restaurant where you
can relax, listen to a good music, to see dances and
drink coca-cola.
Хлопці сідають, дівчата подають кока-колу
хлопцям та журі. Дівчата танцюють. Включають
лампочки і виходять.
- We should go home.
- It seems to me that Broadway is the city that never
go to sleep. Broadway is known as the Great White
way because of the electric sights which turn from
night to day.
- Are you, sure that you don’t live anything of your
things?
