TICK OR CROSS
1. You must read both texts but choose only one of them.
2. You must read both texts and summarise and evaluate both of them.
3. The texts always present opposing ideas.
4. ‘Summarising’ means getting the key points of the text.
5. ‘Evaluating’ means agreeing, disagreeing and/or adding a critical view.
6. You must write an essay about the topic in common in the texts.
7. You must include the key points in your answer using the same words.
8. You must write a summary of the key points and a short opinion.
9. You must write an essay integrating the summary of the key points, your
evaluation of all of them and your own opinions.
10.There are 2 key points in each text.

• You should read the two input texts very carefully.
Each text, approximately 100 words in length, will
present contrasting or complementary views on a
topic. It is important that you learn to identify the
key points in each of the texts, as these points will
form the basis of your essay. Candidates must
integrate a summary of these points, an evaluation
of the abstract arguments involved and their own
ideas on the topic in a coherent essay.
