Omegas Can Help Reduce Body Fat
In the “Taste for Life” December 2011 issue, there is an article by Jonny Bowden,
which states that omegas with exercise can help people lose body fat. Dr. Bowden has a
Master’s Degree in Psychology and Counseling and a PhD in Nutrition, and has earned
six national certifications in personal training and exercise. The omega stimulates lipid
oxidation, which helps burn fat in healthy adults.
The article has a couple of sources, not including Dr. Bowden’s expertise. One
source is a study that was published in 1997 by the International Journal of Obesity and
Related Metabolic Disorders. The second source is another study that was published in
2007 by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. These sources help make the article
convincing.
If I were to do an experiment to test the claim, I would have a few people be put
into two different groups. Group one would get omegas and exercise over a few weeks.
Group two would just exercise for a few weeks. After a few weeks I would see which
group lost the most body fat. A few of the variables would be exercise, and omegas. I
think the results would support the claim.
