Adolescent suicides have increased in several US states during the COVID-19 pandemic. Suppose we are interested in investigating if an educational intervention increases the percentage of high school students seeking counseling services. We conducted a pilot study that involved assigning a sample of 311 students to an intervention group and a sample of 310 students to a traditional program. After a specified period, the number of students in each group who reported visiting a counseling service center in the previous three months was determined. Among the students assigned to the intervention group, 13 had visited a service center; among those receiving traditional programs, 22 had visited a service center. (1) For each group, estimate the proportion of students who had visited a counseling service center in the previous three months. (2) State your null and alternative hypothesis and level of significance. (3) Test your null hypothesis. Provide your calculations here. (4) Construct a 95% confidence interval for the difference. (5) What do you conclude?.
