5. Turns out that school merchandise isn’t all about Panama hats and
collectable badge sets.
There’s a brand-new official school bookmark about to be
launched, and you can come to the Research Centre, Tuesday 12th
August at lunch for your chance to design it.
Plus, Morris Gleitzman (author of Two Weeks with the Queen, Boy
Overboard, Girl Underground, Grace, the Once series etc.) explains
to Years 6 – 9 how he’s written so many brilliant novels that they
won’t all fit in this paragraph. Get excited!

6. Roll up to the library this lunchtime for the annual Staff vs.
Student Quiz!
Test out your literary knowledge with a bunch of challenges, or
just cheer on the official mixed-year student team as they face off
the teachers in a battle of wits.
The newest teen reads, or the oldest classics – John Green’s The
Fault in Our Stars, plus Shakespeare’s assorted variations on that
theme.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see everything written
revamped!

7. Years 10 and 11 kick off Friday 15th August with a talk from Jaclyn Moriarty,
author of the fantastic Ashbury/Brookfield series (Feeling Sorry for Celia,
Finding Cassie Crazy, The Betrayal of Bindy Mackenzie and Dreaming of
Amelia) and hence in-house expert on writing about high school, for high
school students. Jaclyn’s books will be on sale for signing!
Ms Moriarty will also be speaking at our Literary Lunch – a solid afternoon
of entertainment, music, must-see decorations, and seriously good food!
You may wish to sample the sushi, wolf down some wedges or brave the
brownies.
Come to hear the Year 12 Extension 2 English students read excerpts of
their major works and devour the delicious food.
The Literary Lunch is a huge celebration and a great way to round up Book
Week 2014!
