Exercise 9: Mini-article reading
A. Read the article with your tutor.
Packing for a trip is never easy. You always worry that you might forget something important. Here
are some ways to help you pack.
First, make a checklist of all the items that you need for your trip. You can ask your co-travelers to
check the list to make sure that it has everything you need.
Second, set a time for packing. Go to your supermarket to buy items you don’t have yet, and then
cross them off from your checklist.
When everything is ready, you can now rest and enjoy the trip!

During my vacation, our tour gruop got lost. Our tour guide wanted to bring us to a new tourist
spot. But he didn’t know the plase well. Instead of turning left at the intersection, the bus went rigth.
We did not know we were going in the wrong direction.
Our bus driver stopped to ask for directions. We learned that the driver made a wrong turn. Our
tour guide said sory. We arrived at the place but only spent a shoart time there. After a few minutes, we
continued with our tour.

When travelling, people worry about getting lost. To help you worry less, remember these
First, write down your hotel’s name and address on a piece of paper. You can keep the paper in
your wallet or in your pocket. If you get lost, just show it to a taxi driver. He or she will bring you to the
address.
Second, ask directions from a police or traffic officer. They know the city’s streets and
buildings.
Lastly, don’t forget to keep a copy of your tour guide’s phone number. In case of emergency, you can
call him or her for help.
