How did I attract/address the audience for my media product
Wider Audience Targeted As we wanted to attract a wider audience (16-30 years old) for our thriller, we decided to choose an interesting, but also unusual idea – blind spot. Therefore by starting the thriller with a long pan across, showing the photos of random people, we wanted to reinforce the idea of the things you do not see – creating tension. Young people normally are interested in thrillers and horror movies, therefore they will be interested because it is also a mystery. However, it is also true that everybody can relate to the story because it rather universal than targeted to a certain circle of audience. Everybody is scared of things that cannot see, which makes it relevant to everybody, which makes it easier to sell and address.
Female Audience Attracted We have deliberately chosen a strong female character, who is the boss of the operation of the swat team, which gives her the power. She will also have the lead role because she is having the most of the screen time and the last shot is fixated on her – she is also one of the victims of “The Blind Spot”. We thought that by her being a feminist (showed by the glasses, hair tight and up) and playing a successful character (boss), we will attract a female audience because women would relate to this character. Especially nowadays when women are trying to prove society that they are work as efficiently as men. In addition, the mystery and the psychology might attract the female audience as well.
Male Audience Attracted We added the action at the beginning (police breaking into the flat), which we thought would attract male audience because it includes guns, fast action, tension. We also chosen an attractive female character in order to address also our male audience. Although, she is a feminist and the male audience might not be attracted by that, she represents a good-looking successful woman, so they will be attracted by her clothes (wearing a short, but elegant skirt, high-heels), creating sexual tension later in the movie. There is also a short duologue between her and one guy from the swat team, he stands out from the others, which could suggest that at some point the might be together, which the male audience would like because she is the superior one, but chooses to be with him.

How did i attract my audience
