4. Blogging isn’t just a form documenting your
every move, like some kind of perverse diary..
You want your blog to be creative and stand out
from the rest, make it
interesting…enjoyable…pleasurable for the
examiner. If they don’t cry by the end of it, or
write a letter to you telling you how moving it
was, you’ve failed. DON’T FAIL.
Blogging is about being individual and standing
out from the crowd - pushing yourself to create
something that’s different and out there.
5. Brain - Always use your brain. You have to be intelligent when blogging,
the examiner doesn’t want to read a violently illiterate scrawling written
by what appears to be a 10 year old. Come on, be smart…and creative.
Log on - Always be logged on, if a thought comes into your head, BLOG
IT. If you have a moment of creative impulse, BLOG IT. Vangough didn’t
become so successful through half-assing it, he pushed his creative spirit
to the max and cut off his ear. Would you do that for a good blog? of
course you would. BE creative, be logged on.
Originality - Always be original. Don’t be like everyone else, be yourself,
be creative.
Greatness - Be Great, go all in on this one. Never be afraid to succeed by
any means necessary, and if you’re not that great, then act like you're
great, everything you do must embody greatness, and don’t forget to be
creative.

Risk - Always take risks. Risk taking is the biggest part of life, if you don’t take risks
you’ll be stuck on the same grade boundary for the rest of your life. Being creative is
essentially taking risks.
Greatness - Be Great, go all in on this one. Never be afraid to succeed by any means
necessary, and if you’re not that great, then act like you're great, everything you do
must embody greatness, and don’t forget to be creative.
7. Taking risks
-
DON’T be
afraid to jump.
“A ship is always safe
at the shore - but that
is NOT what it is built
for.” - Albert Einstein
8. Dear Gabe,
What does taking risks have to do with Blogging?
Sincerely, beloved admirer.
9. Dearest Beloved Admirer,
Taking risks is everything to do with blogging. If you don’t take risks how do you expect to stand out? Take the risk and blog something that you
wouldn't normally blog. And be Creative.
Love from Gabe.
10. Here’s where I took a risk and got
really quite creative.
A Gabe Jackson and Lucas Smith mise en scene

11. Wore GoPros.
Created a narrative.
Made it interesting.
Included relevant content that related back to the mise en
scene used in Thriller.
Made it different.
Made it CREATIVE.
Made it OUT THERE.
Made it a success.
Here’s how we GOT CREATIVE
12. How to be CREATIVE on
your blog
Think about how you’re going to approach a blog post - how
are you going to create it on your blog?
e.g. Create a post looking at your target audience.
Are you going to write a paragraph about who your target
audience is? “19 year old males who like computer games
and action movies..” - BORING. NOT CREATIVE.
Are you going to take photographs of your target audience,
conduct interviews and post that to your blog? - Sure, why
not. Make it visual make it creative. Bang, marks awarded.
Easy.
14. Why not grab yourself a camera, or camera-
phone, and actually go around conducting a
series of video interviews, explaining what it is
they are interested in and why they might like to
watch your video? - wow, that sounds like
100/100 to me..why?
15. Because it’s visual. Because there’s relevant
content. Because it reflects media, you’re literally
MAKING a film AS WELL AS getting those sweet,
sweet marks.
- the examiner doesn’t want to be bored - so think
to yourself before hitting that post button: is this
going to bore my examiner? BE CREATIVE.
16. Here’s an example.

17. Dear Gabe,
I’m having real trouble trying to find ideas to make my evaluation task 5
more interesting - all I can think of is a voice recording…or maybe, I
don’t know…a script? With Pictures? Please help me out, you’re really
smart and funny..and fit.
Forever yours, your beloved admirer.
18. To the secret admirer,
Why don’t you make a video interview…of yourself. But not your average video, GET CREATIVE.
Pimp that bad boy out with sweet studio lighting and dramatic music, always remember the G
of BLORG: Greatness. Though it may only seem like a daft interview, there’s always a way to
make it seem way more important than it actually is, never underestimate pageantry and
showmanship, they will bring you the extra marks.
devoted blogger, Gabe Jackson
P.s. Please stop sending me letters, it’s creepy and outdated.

20. CoN-TeNt
Your blog is documentation of your progress, as well as a
blank canvas, awaiting your creative touch….as well as
the showing and understanding of media as a subject.
Document every step of the way - getting from A-B in a
creative way, by being creative and letting your
creative spirit reek havoc on the world of blogging.
Include failures as well as success..every blog counts -
everything shows your development, and
experimentation all of which will give you points that will
count toward the coveted 100%..and points mean prizes.
21. SUMMARY
Always look to do things in a more creative way than you usually would - or at the very
least, if all else fails, relate your blog post to film making (make a video)
Don’t get too carried away when GETTING CREATIVE, you MUST relate your blog post
back to the film/music industry (music industry now) and of course your own coursework
progression lol
You WILL get 100% if you DO WHAT YOU’RE TOLD, but be creative..and do your own
individual, interesting and enthralling thing.
it’s not about quantity, its about quality…and creativity (500 words of meaningful
content will get you much further than 2,000 words of rubbish
Don’t go crazy with creativity, the examiner doesn’t want to have a creatively imposed
seizure.
Don’t always be a hero
never be afraid to be creative.
Show the examiner that you know what you’re on about, creatively, by being creative
and showing that you know what you’re talking about.
