1956 – IMPACT AND PERSPECTIVES
The Conference will be held on:
17 November 2016. 8:30 AM - 14:00 PM
National University of Public Service, Ludovika Campus, Room VII (243/B)
Address: Ludovika sqr. 2., 1083 Budapest
The 1956 revolution is one of the defining moments in the modern history of Hungary. Much has been said
and written about the events, including its causes, key participants, political and military history,
international implications and consequences – mostly by Hungarians for Hungarians. The conference, true
to the mission of the Faculty of International and European Studies, sheds light on how the 1956
revolution was seen and interpreted abroad and the impact it had on political developments in other
countries. The conference gives a comprehensive geographic coverage with the help of invited experts
from the Czech Republic, Egypt and France as well as leading Hungarian experts on Korean and Latin
American studies and the former Hungarian consul in Canberra and Melbourne.
