Editor's Notes
Hi, I’m Haley. This project is a project about three book that were written by Ellen Hopkins. She wrote these books based off her daughters trials, hardships, and overall addiction.
Crank is the first book written, and Ellen didn’t originally plan to write a second or third, but her fans demanded. In this book Kristina starts out a great student in school, A+. She then turns into Bree, who is her more outgoing second personality. This girl will talk to any guy she sees and isn’t afraid to do anything. She goes downhill, and doesn’t find her way out.
Glass is the second book in the series, and it has a lot to do with getting hooked back on to the monster and not being able to stop. She also has two more children in the second book. The book ends with her going to jail because of her newest addiction and stealing from the man that had the meth.
http://www.youtube.com/v/7htDQ4Zs0UY&feature=player_embedded Fallout is written by the three older children. It is a harder book to read because it skips back and forth from the three different children, but you get to see the different impacts their mother had on their lives.
Ellen Hopkins is Marie Haskins, she tells her opinions and thoughts in the books, and she is still watching out for Cristal. They don’t keep in touch as much since they live almost 400 miles apart. She is writing more books, but no more about her family. She is writing them completely fiction although there are a few fan related parts in the books.
Right now Cristal is working in a newspaper business doing a simple job. She has gotten brain damage from tweaking (a word used for abusing the drug methamphetamine), and she stay mostly clean now. She has her three youngest kids living with her and is making it with the help of her real dad. They live together in Reno.
Jason is very smart and has had nothing to do with any illegal drugs. He and Hunter are very close as you can see in the top picture. Even though they are not full brothers they think as though they are.
Kelly is the youngest, and she had learned from her sisters mistakes not to do drugs of any sort. The man in this picture is the man she is still with today. This is their prom picture from her senior year.
Ellen did not know much about Kristina’s boyfriends or fathers of the children Kristina had and in the books she used the real name of Trey. She didn’t talk about the other father’s names at all in any of her interviews or on her website.
In real life Orian actually was adopted by Ellen and her husband, John Hopkins. She had the adoption legalized when he was four, but started taking care of him when he was just a baby. Ellen says, “He is the light of our lives (as well as the biggest pain!) and a true gift. He knows the whole story, of course, but considers us his parents, and we consider him our son.” This quote was taken from her website.
There was not much information about these children because Ellen Hopkins was the only person that gave out information about her daughter, and she does not know very much about her four younger kids.
