Introduction
Have you ever faced the situation when
you wanted to see the exact differences of
development objects between systems? One way
was to navigate to the version management of
the development object and carry out a remote
comparison. However if you have dozens of objects
to compare, this can be a very time consuming
task.
Hovitaga Mass Comparison tool offers you an
easy way to conveniently compare any number of
development objects across multiple SAP systems.
You can carry out the comparison between two
or even three systems. This feature is especially
useful since by far the most SAP system landscapes
consist of three systems (development, quality
and production). Now you can execute two
comparisons (DEV-QA and QA-PROD) at once.
This product helps ABAP developers fixing
bugs by offering an easy way to compare many
objects at once between SAP systems. This
provides the benefit of quickly finding the cause
of the problem (maybe a transport was not
imported to the productive system) or making
sure that the developer debugs the same version
of the problematic program in the quality or
development system.

2. Main features
Flexible selection screen
The objects to be compared can be selected easily based
on package, transport request, object type, object name,
person responsible. There is an option to select all customer
objects and/or modified SAP objects.
The systems to be compared can be defined as RFC
destinations on the selection screen.
Comparison between SAP systems
The program can compare up to three SAP systems at
once. This is very convenient since typically development,
quality and production systems are used in a SAP system
landscape. This way the whole transport route can be
tracked for each object, all differences between DEV-QA
and QA-PROD can be analyzed in one single ALV grid.
Once the objects to be compared are gathered, they are
displayed in an ALV grid. For each object, a preliminary
comparison takes place whcih determines if the object
exists in all selected systems or not. This already may point
out for example the root of an incident in the productive
environment.

The user then can select the objects in the ALV grid to be compared
between systems. As the next step, the program resolves all the
subobjects of the selected objects and carries out the comparison. A
typical example for objects and its subobjects is an ABAP report (object),
which may contain several screens (subobjects). Comparison takes place
on subobject level. The result of the comparison is indicated with an
icon and a short text.
Additionally, all information related to transports of each object is read
from the systems, so the user can see the latest transport number (with
username, date and time too) for each SAP system on one single screen.
Shortcuts
The result ALV grid offers single click navigation options to important
information like the transport request display (SE09/SE10), user
information and detailed object comparison. The development objects
can be displayed in any system via RFC with a single click too.
There is a special shortcut to call the comparison of customizing table
contents across clients and/or systems. This is a very helpful tool to
investigate differences in customizing between clients or systems,
which may be critical during testing or go-live preparation.
