AT&T, Community Computer Alliance and the YMCA of Central
Ohio Announce Digital Drop-off Day Event
Donated electronics will be recycled, refurbished for families in need
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Aug. 16, 2017) — Community Computer Alliance and the YMCA of
Central Ohio will be collecting used electronics at their Digital Drop-off Day event. AT&T is
assisting in this event as a sponsor. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19 from
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at various YMCA locations across central Ohio.
“I want to thank AT&T and the YMCA of Central Ohio for collaborating on this important
work,” said Community Computer Alliance Executive Director Dan Hurst. “By collecting these
devices, we can make certain that we will have enough devices to meet the needs of our
community.”
Items accepted for donation include: Computers, servers, laptops, PDA’s, iPads, iPods,
cellphones, gaming systems, keyboards, mice, LCD and CRT monitors, printers, scanners,
copiers, stereos, VCR’s, and DVD players.
Devices can be dropped off at the following YMCA locations:

"Digital devices have changed the way that we all work, play, and live. But there are still
many families in our community that do not have the means to purchase this technology,”
said YMCA Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations & Social Responsibility Todd Tuney.

“That’s why the YMCA is joining AT&T and the Community Computer Alliance in the effort to
provide access to critical technology to all residents, especially our students.”
“AT&T is committed to bringing community partners together to ensure that there is access
to technology,” said AT&T Ohio External Affairs Director Christopher Wyche. “By helping the
CCA to refurbish and reuse old devices, we are supporting its efforts to place much-needed
technology in the hands of those who may not have had access to it.”
During the next several weeks, the Community Computer Alliance will work to refurbish all
donated devices. The donated devices will then be given to eligible households. Interested
families can learn more about the application process to secure a refurbished device at an
announcement event on Sept. 8 at Linden McKinley High School. The event will also provide
an opportunity for families to sign up for Access from AT&T, an internet program for
qualifying low-income households.
