genre’s of films. It focuses mainly on foreign and
independent films and has distributed various
commercially successful film series, including The Twilight
Saga (partially), The Hunger Games, Saw and The
Expendables.
• They distribute their films for both cable and broadcast
television.
• Lionsgate are a conglomerate so they have the funds to
become a convergence which is where they have an
institution in other mediums e.g. television, video and
music.
• Some of their horror films are ‘You’re Next’ and ‘Saw’.
3. • Universal Pictures are a large corporation who distribute
films worldwide. They are based in California, United
States of America but have their distribution company in
New York.
• They do not use convergence as they are not that big of
an institution but are big enough to own and produce a
lot of big hit films.
• Some of their horror films are: ‘MAMA’, ‘Jaws’
4. • Warner Bros are another huge conglomerate who
distribute films from all different genre’s worldwide.
They are a American producer of film, television,
and music entertainment.
• As they go into other mediums, it means that they
use convergence which has helped them to gain
this big brand image and has made them a global
business.
• They distribute their films into cinema’s all over the
world and after a while they get played on TV on
channels such as Film 4 and Channel 4 who are
owned by the same label.
• ‘The Conjuring’ is one film in the horror genre that
they have produced.
5. • If my opening sequence was to get distributed by a
production company, I think it would be Warner Bros.
This is because they are a huge conglomerate with a
large audience worldwide. They also use convergence
to go into other mediums as well as using synergy e.g.
their character’s from films becoming toys sold in a
happy meal at McDonalds.
