Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London to kill King James I. He and his friends placed a bomb under Parliament but they were discovered before it could detonate. Guy Fawkes was arrested, tortured, and executed. Every November 5th in Britain, people celebrate Guy Fawkes Day by lighting bonfires and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes, in remembrance of his failed assassination attempt. Students at the Constantin Savoiu school in Romania learned about this British tradition and celebrated with drawings and fireworks.
