This document provides instructions for creating and customizing a basic bingo board template in Microsoft Word:
1. Insert a 5x6 table and format the rows and columns to be consistently sized.
2. Add formatting like centering the board and formatting cell contents.
3. Save the template to allow customizing individual boards while preserving the original template.
4. Individual boards can then be customized by adding words, numbers, clip art or photos to the squares.

Open a blank Word Document
On the Insert Tab click Table then select “Insert Table”
In the pop up window set your columns for 5 and your rows
for 6 to create a basic bingo board.
Now mouse over your table and you should see a
symbol. Hover over that and right click for a menu.
Choose Table Properties
Under the table tab, click options and uncheck the box that says automatically resize to fit content
(We want our boxes to all stay the same size no matter what we put in them) Then click OK.
Under the Rows tab, set all your row high to 1.5 and choose “exactly” from the drop down menu

Under the Columns tab. Set all your columns to 1.5
You don’t need to make any changes to the Cell tab.
Now you should have a basic bingo board.
Formatting adjustments
To center the board on your page click on the in the top left corner of the board then in the
Home Tab at the top, choose the center icon in the paragraph section . This should center the
board on your page.
Now to make your header row slightly smaller than your other rows; Hover over the bottom line and
drag the line up.
o If you are having trouble getting your board on one page. Click the Page Layout tab – then
margins and change it from Normal to Narrow.
Now we are going to format our board so that all the info in the squares will be formatted the same.
Click on the again and right click.
Now click on cell alignment and choose the option that centers the info in the square both vertically
and horizontally.
If you always want your board to have BINGO in the top
row, you can add that now. You can also make any font type and
size changes if you always want your board to start out with that
font. You can edit the fonts and size later when you are editing the
board as well.

Now our bingo board template is complete!
Now choose Save as and select Word Template as your format
type and name your file. By saving as a template you will
automatically be prompted to “save as” for any changes you
make, therefore protecting your “original” board.
Customizing your bingo board
You can now type words, letters or numbers in your BINGO squares. You can also add clip art or photos.
To add clip art to a square
o Click in the square – Click the insert tab, then clip art. Choose your image and click on it.
It will automatically resize to fit the box.
To add a picture from your computer
o Click in the square – Click the insert tab, then Picture. Choose your image and click on it
and click insert. It will automatically resize to fit the box.
When your board is done click save. You will automatically be prompted to SAVE AS. This preserves
your template of the bingo board for later use.
