Summary
• The method and machine to treat slag of metal
industries, the method based on improve the
mechanical properties of the slag as well as
prevent its interaction with water, improvement is
done by bonding slag with binders in slag
treatment machine. consists of mill for crushing
and grinding of slag, mixer to achieve
homogeneity, bunker to assemble the bonding
materials that do not need grinding, tank to collect
and heat mixture to become viscous and easy
deformed in pipes and a bowl to collect the
treated slag.
General Defination
• Slag is general word used to denote a large number of
simple and complex compounds, they may be solutions
Oxides stemming from various sources, or sulfides
stemming from furnace charge or fuel,
In other cases, slags are composed of halides such as
calcium fluoride (calcium fluoride). The slag is usually a
separate phase from the molten metal because of its
immiscibility and low density
• Slag plays a very important role in the processes of metal
extraction by thermal methods
Problem and economical impacts
• The annual output of cathodic wastes is 6,000
tons annually, in addition to about 50,000 tons
of the same wastes accumulated over 15 years.
These quantities represent an environmental
and economic problem
• Cathodic exhausts are considered one of the
largest solid wastes resulting from the aluminum
industry, it is considred as source of
containmentation because it contain
fluorinated salts and carbon.
Impacts of non recycled Slags
Previous Arts
• Aluminum slag was recycled by adding it to the salt or subjecting it to high temperatures to
extract the remaining aluminum atoms from it. Aluminum slag produces two products that
can be marketed, the first is aluminum castings, and the second is the production of three
grades of metallic oxide that can be used in the steel industry, not to mention the
possibility of using it as an additive to concrete to improve its properties. Aluminum slag is
a source of aluminum oxide in the cement industry, but there are many technical
difficulties related to the composition of aluminum slag that stand in the way of expanding
its use, including:
The presence of a high percentage of raw aluminum in the slag, which prevents it from
being tempered or heat treated
Slag compounds are very voracious to dissolve in water and produce harmful gases that are
difficult to get rid of Instability of the chemical composition of slag resulting from different
alloys
Slag resulting from a particular alloy whose chemical composition can be relatively
controlled does not exist in commercial quantities suitable for recycling.
Aluminum slag, although it is light in weight, has a very low hardness
Cathodic exhausts are considered one of the largest solid wastes resulting from the
aluminum industry and one of the major concerns of this industry as they represent an
important economic source thanks to their containment of fluorinated salts and carbon.
The annual output of cathodic wastes is 6,000 tons annually, in addition to about 50,000
tons of the same wastes accumulated over 15 years. These quantities represent an
environmental and economic problem.

• The use of metal industry wastes as a filler for the purpose of manufacturing a
composite material is one of the modern purposes,
• The method does not require complex chemical treatment processes.
• It uses types of slag that are not recycled, such as cast iron, ordinary, and
aluminum slags.
• Mixing two types of fillers to manufacture one composite material with
distinctive properties, which makes it combine hardness, heat and sound
insulation, and shock resistance.
• Producing of new composite material whose main components are waste
• Aluminum industry waste that has not been recycled before can be recycled,
which leads to benefiting from the proportion
• Adding slagr to the composite material improves the mechanical properties of
the composite material as it increases the hardness and tensile stress.
• Despite the relative weakness in the mechanical properties of slag, it is low in
weight and has heat, sound and electricity insulating properties.
.
Application of products
• Electrical rsistances matrials
• wear resistance applications
• Nuclear Reactors concrete
• Marine applications
• Water resistance materials
Product Features&Competitiveness
• Cheap price with extra high quality
• patent and unique
• Dimension stability
• smooth surface finish
• Licenses for production requirements
Diversity of uses internally and
externally
Quality factors
• *The component parts of the product are very numerous, so the controls for
excesses in dimensions must be adhered to in the minimum limit, which is + 0.01
mm
* The smoothness of the inner surface of the forming dies is taken into account
to improve the inner surface of the final product.
* The quality of the grinding process is taken into account to ensure the
homogeneity of the final compound granules and to prevent internal defects.
* Taking into account the homogeneity of the granules and their regular
distribution during the process of mixing the composite materials.
* The dimensions and inclinations of the molds are measured daily to fix the
change in the dimensions of the molds to avoid any change in the dimensions of
the product.
* The various manufacturing factors such as pressure, temperature, and cooling
rate are taken into account, and the extent to which this is appropriate to the
type of manufactured installation
Scintific Contributions
• The use of metal industry wastes as a filler for the purpose of manufacturing a composite
material is one of the modern purposes, and this method does not require complex
chemical treatment processes. It also uses types of slag that are not recycled, such as cast
iron, ordinary, and aluminum slags.
2- Mixing two types of fillers to manufacture one composite material with distinctive
properties, which makes it combine hardness, heat and sound insulation, and shock
resistance.
3- Producing a new composite material whose main components are waste at a rate of
75:85%.
4- Aluminum industry waste that has not been recycled before can be recycled, which leads
to benefiting from the proportion of stiffeners present in those wastes, which amounts to
about 20% of the total fiber used in the manufacture of tanks and fiber pipes.
5- Adding fiber to the composite material improves the mechanical properties of the
composite material as it increases the hardness and tensile stress.
6- Despite the relative weakness in the mechanical properties of slag, it is low in weight
and has heat, sound and electricity insulating properties.
7- The proportion of non-thermosetting additives in the mixture should not be less than
65%: 50% as a minimum to ensure the homogeneity of the compound.
