Failure Is Strength, By Michael Jordan
Failure is Strength "I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." once said by the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. In
today's world, people every day are taking different opportunities and trying new activities. With a great chance of failure, they still decide to risk it all.
As a result, they learn a valuable life lesson that helps create them into a stronger person. Failure can strengthen an individual by creating new
opportunities and motivating them to do better. Creating new opportunities is one way that failure can strengthen a person. For instance, Thomas
Edison did not create the light bulb with just one trial. It took many trial and errors to get where he wanted to be. Without failing, he wouldn't

My Greatest Failure Research Paper
Malcolm Forbes publisher of Forbes magazine once said "Failure is success if we learn from it." In life we as humans have many ups and
downs, trials and tribulations, failures and success. However it is what we do with our most sever downfalls that lead to some of our greatest
achievements. For example my greatest failure was when I was in the eighth grade I applied to go to the City Of Medicine Academy however I
was not accepted.Although I was not able to attend the City Of Medicine I was able to attend one of the most innovative and extraordinary high
schools in Durham, North Carolina. As a middle school student I was aspired to go to City of Medicine Academy all year I had gotten good grade, a

However when the time came for everyone to get their acceptance letters I watched as all my friends received there acceptance letters, and posted
the pictures of them on different social media websites but I never got one.As time went by I realized that I had not been accepted into the City of
Medicine Academy. I felt like a total failure I didn't know whether, my grades weren't good enough, or if my teacher gave me a bad
recommendation or maybe I because they saw something in me that was unsuitable for their school. It was like my game plan had been thrown off
I had planned to go to City Of Medicine Academy, then Howard University for my Bachelor degree and then UNC Chapel Hill for my master and
doctorate degree. Nonetheless even though I was not accepted into City Of medicine academy I ended up going to the school that I was suppose to go
to Hillside New Tech. Although Hillside New Tech's curriculum is not the same as the City Of Medicine Academy I have foundsuccess in being a

Icarus Metamorphosis
Oscar Wilde, in his quote that praises Icarus' "fearless flight," takes an opposing view to the lesson learned from reading the Greek myth of Icarus
and Daedalus. In the myth, Icarus' hubris, or extreme arrogance, in defying the Gods and ignoring his father's instructions about flying too close to the
sun, is punished by his wings melting and falling to his death. The theme is that one should respect rules and their elders and live within their limits.
However, Oscar Wilde put a different spin on the lesson to be learned fromIcarus' adventure and tragedy. Wilde poetically said that Icarus' success
was his "fearless flight" and that if he didn't take the risk of flying too close to "the burning light" of the sun, then that would be "the greatest
tragedy of them all." He believes that the adventures and risks we take in life are what make life worth living, and that a life lived that does not
experience the thrills of risk, adventure, and possibly success, even for just a moment, is a life not well lived. In a sense, Wilde believes that hubris
is needed to do amazing things. The arrogance to ignore the risks may result in great successes, and if you try hard and don't succeed, then even the
brave attempt is success. The only failure or tragedy is not to try at all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I don't try for greatness, even going against the odds, I will never know what my full potential is. If I fail in trying, I will learn lessons from my
failures, and try again or try a different path. However, I don't want to be comfortable living a just okay life without attempting excellence, even
beyond my own limits, and illustrate Oscar Wilde's "tragedy." We must live fearlessly to have a meaningful

Role Of Achievement In The Odyssey
The Odyssey of Achievement "Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort."
–Franklin D. Roosevelt A journey, doesn't necessarily require a road but always has a path of discovery. Coming to the end of a journey is an
achievement, if the challenges along the way were challenging enough, "requiring effort, courage, or skill" (Webster online) the achievement will be
cherished. Seeking a path in any life decision will lead to an achievement, whether it's a positive or negative result is up to the achiever themselves.

Failure is also an achievement, with a negative result, opposite of accomplishment. A mother that shows no interest in raising her children, the children
are not productive or morally responsible end in an achievement in failure by that mother. Not all negative achievements are failures. A negative
achievement can become a positive, again it depends on the achiever and what they choose do with the achievement in question. "Success is not final;
failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts"– Winston Churchill. Throughout history the most successful people had a relationship with
failure and still went on to make their mark on the world. You can have a live time of fails and one success to make it all worth it. "I suppose there
are clues about his life there in the shut–up–and–locked room, perhaps even some traces of my mother, but better to be content with ignorance, I've
always thought, than haunted by the truth" (Brume 101). A given opportunity to achieve (negative or positive) should not be ignored, it's a gift of a
life experience that expands your senses and enhances thought, it's not something to be afraid of. Bravery can only be filtered through fear, being able to

What Is Failure In College
Failure can be both beneficial and adverse depending on how one accepts the results. Through failure you are supposed to look at the positives and
learn from the outcome. Most of my intentions in life began with failure. My academic ambition was ruptured by drastic failure that could of ruined my
chances of getting accepted into any college. Failure had taken over my life.
College has always been a dream for me. My mother started college during highschool and my father was given a full ride to the University of
Louisville. Academics and Athletics were praised in myfamily. Starting freshman year I had to greatest plan to make acceptable grades and out do
every other female athletes in the sports I participated in. For a while, it was a success. During my sophomore year I began to question many
aspects of my life. Like most teens, small problems with my parents started to arise, only mine weren't small. My mother and I both deeply suffered
from our daily feuds with each other that eventually lead to a mother daughter divorce. I moved out and in with my father. I thought being away
from my mother would bring some happiness, it only got worse. I missed her entirely to much but I could never tell her nor apologize, my pride was
vast. I figured if she is my mother and she loved me why would I have to say anything. I wasn't going too. Her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Student
The education we receive today holds the power to shape the individuals we will be in the future. Not only does our education aid our choices
throughout school, but also the choices we make in our personal lives like where we choose to work and how we portray ourselves to society.
Personally, I have enjoyed my educational experience. I have enjoyed learning new concepts and interacting with new people. Of course, there are
obstacles along the way. However, these obstacles have given me the opportunity to realize my strengths and weaknesses and learn to improve in
both areas. As a student, I hold onto my perseverance, seek guidance from influential figures in my life, and embrace my challenges to which all
contribute to my hope to become the finest version of myself. My greatest strength as a student is my perseverance. No matter the difficulty of an
assignment, I choose to give it my all until the end. For example, a challenge I have faced several times as a student is working with uncooperative
peers. With such a difficulty, I choose to stay calm and compromise ideas with others to solve the problems. Nevertheless, if the problem is not
resolved I will continue to work on the assignment until it is complete with the my best work. I have noticed that I am not discouraged by such
problems, but instead use these complications as learning points in my educational experience. However, considering my strength I have a promising
weakness to balance out my work habit; I am a

Personal Narrative: Why Doesn T Fail
The most valuable piece of advice that I have been given was from my older sister. She quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson to me after I had been very
upset about badly losing a championship soccer game. She told me that "Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in rising up every time we
fail," so I should not use this loss as a way to give up, but instead as a motive to become better. At the time I did quite comprehend what she was
saying, but now, looking back upon that moment, I realize how those few words have shaped the way I see myself, others, and the world. From
hearing those words, I realized that failure happens to everyone; however, how we overcome it is much more important in defining who we are than
the failure itself. Also, enduring

Irrational Failure Definition
Failure. My biggest, maybe not so "irrational" fear. Failure probably doesn't have the same connotation to everyone by cause of people valuing
different things. Ever since I was little though, I've envisaged being a success story, at least for a person in my situation. I'm from a household of a
single mother living below the poverty line and a father that might be bereft of life, and although it sounds malevolent, my goal in life has been to be
nothing like either of them. Unlike my father at fifteen, I pour my heart and soul into every school assignment I do, even if I think it's inane. I work
scrupulously on every paper that passes under my right hand. Unlike my mother, I pretend I'm invulnerable to spiteful comments just so I won't

Review Of Ralph Waldo Emerson's 'Always Get Back Up'
Always Get Back Up Ralph Waldo Emerson was a famous poet and a leader in the transcendentalist movement in the 19th century. One of Emerson's
famous quotes was "The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but rising every time we fail." This quote has a lot of meaning. Many people
can relate to it because of sports, school, and life in general. Michael Jordan had a quote very similar to Emerson's. "I've missed more than nine
thousand shots in my career. I've lost almost three hundred games. Twenty six times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've
failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." (Jordan). This quote has taken a toll on me through many things in school,
sports, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time I was very small and I was not a great football player. This brought the whole team down. We finished the season with only three wins
and about seven losses. Our team practiced efficiently the next season. We finished with zero losses and ten wins. The way that our team had
risen was a perfect example of this quote. Another example of pursuing after failure is the story of Thomas Edison. He failed thousands of times
but he kept persevering. His goal was to make a viable, electric light bulb. One day a reporter asked why he hadn't given up and he responded with,
"I now know definitely over 9,000 ways an electric light bulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp" (Edison). Shortly after, Edison was
successful. He invented the first incandescent electric light bulb. This comes to show that Thomas Edison persevered through tough times. "The
greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but rising every time we fail" (Emerson). People fail all of the time. One of the best feelings on this
planet is rising after failure. I did this when it came to grades and sports. Thomas Edison did this when it came to inventing the electric light bulb.
Success after failure can be accomplished through perseverance and hard work. That is why we should always get back up after

Personal Narrative: What Was Your Greatest Failure
What Was Your Greatest Failure and What Did You Learn From It? Every student has been taught and understands how to succeed. Over many
years of schooling it is ingrained into our minds that if we don't succeed then we fail. This mentality has prevented many people from learning
from their mistakes; however, if students learn to see their mistakes not as a failure but as a lesson to learn from, we could all become ameliorated
people. One of my greatest failure occurs during my third season on the Blue Valley Tigers Lacrosse Team. I was a varsity midfielder and our team
was in the playoffs preparing to play the number one team, Rockhurst. We rode a bus to the UMKC field. This was a momentous event for our team
because just three years ago was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A recurring thought running through our head was that we had already lost, but that next year we would definitely win. This was a shared opinion
by many of my teammates since we had no seniors and would have the same team next year that we would be the foremost lacrosse team in
Kansas; however we still had a game to play and no one wanted to lose, but many walked in with a pessimistic attitude, including myself. Our team
marched out of the locker rooms and thundered onto the field for the beginning of the game. After the game the team, demoralized, walked back
to our lockers rooms where we packed up our gear knowing we had just lost (score?). This was a forlorn time in my life, I felt defeated and
embarrassed. As much as it exasperated me it was a very important turning point in my life where I learned some critical lessons. The obvious take
away was to stay positive and not give up. This game had crushed the spirit of everyone on the team, I didn't even want to keep playing in the second
half. Even then we finished the game and went home knowing we could have done more. This even showed me how important it is to give one
hundred percent effort in everything you do if you want to be successful. You have to prepare and give it everything you have to

College Admissions Essay: My Greatest Source Of Failure
Perhaps my greatest source of dedication is also the same whim that has been attacking society: peer pressure. As the only child, my parents
adored and even spoiled me; however, they also placed great expectations upon me. At first, my outlook on everything that they have done is
trivial, something to account for a circumstance that will never occur. Even as a child, I cannot tolerate the outlook of failure. Every once in a
while, I would become despondent from a fault, but I never let it stop me. In my eyes, that one failure is spiting me, and I extend my efforts to
accomplish a task just to show myself that it was possible. There was one incident that set back my courage and determination to improve upon
myself when I was young. At the time, I was an overweight kid. Even at the age of 5, my weight ranged from 110 to 120 pounds, and the numbers
simply never went down, only up. Although in elementary school the teachers and advisors gave all sorts of lessons on ignoring bullies and what
they say, the lessons were, as I experienced, easier to speak of than to put in action. The worst incident occurred when I was in second grade with a
fifth grader, who was eating lunch at the "silent table." Thinking back on it, I cannot remember his exact words or my exact response; I just remember
the intense feelings of anger and despair caused by his jeering. From that incident forward, my weight rarely changed even up to eighth grade. Even

College Admissions Essay: My Greatest Failure
My Greatest Failure My greatest failure had led to one of my greatest accomplishments. I hate to look back at the period where I struggled.. From
as long as I can remember, I always thought I was never good enough. There was always someone prettier, taller, richer, or more talented than I
thought I was. I had a range of insecurities from my grades at school to the home I grew up in. Looking back, it was like a rain cloud over my head. I
remember this rain cloud of insecurities following me from kindergarten until my senior year of high school. This rain cloud tried to destroy the person
I was growing to be. My greatest failure was giving into this rain cloud and almost letting it destroy me. Freshman year was the year of prosperity
for the rain cloud. A large, new school meant harder classes, more girls to compete with, and new classmates to impress. The rain cloud grew until I
could not stand to be under it anymore. "I have to change myself to make myself better, more likeable, more attractive!" is what I thought. "How can
I change myself? I can make myself skinner! Then everyone will like me and all my insecurities will disappear." At a... Show more content on

With that philosophy began the war between the rain cloud and I. My weapons against the rain cloud included fasting, purging after eating, and
going on the treadmill for two or more hours a day. After a few month I was winning! I lost weight, looked great, and felt happy. I knew nothing about
eating disorders and never thought that I had one. That is until I became very ill. My unhealthy eating habits that I thought were helping me were
doing the opposite. These habits became more frequent and intense. I started experiencing massive headaches, my skin broke out in rashes because I
was depriving myself of vital vitamins and nutrients, my muscles were fatigue, and my hair began to fall out. That is when I knew I had a

Fear Essay : What Is A Teen's Worst Fear
What is a teen's worst fear? We all have, are or will be teen's. As I am an adolescent, what really drives me crazy, makes my palms sweaty but what
wistfully keeps me going is my fear of failure. This fear is certainly not the only things that stresses me out but it is what I believe to be a teen's
greatest fear. Of course, the fear of failure is not limited to just adolescents, it affects everyone, but that is the age where children really start to
worry about their future. Also, your teen years are when you think most about what other people think about you. There are many reasons to my
opinion. For example, family pressure, social status and the fact that teen's like to skip the failure in life are all factors of Atychiphobia (fear of
failure). Additionally, these are also the factors that I will be talking about today. One reason why I believe that a teens worst fear is failure is
because teen's generally like to skip the failure that comes with life. For example, most teen's try to avoid public speaking such as presentations
because they are afraid that they mess up when they present. This causes teen's to have a lack of experience when it comes to public speaking
which is an important requirement in most jobs. Furthermore, another example I can use to prove myself is in the book Tripping which we were
supposed to read for book club. In the book, Rainey is afraid to pursue a career in art because she is scared that she might fail. What is most sad about

however in life failure is a reality. Failure will inevitably happen to all of us. My biggest failure and greatest disappointment and the one that has
bothered me the most, was a failure on my part to communicate effectively. I was adopted as a toddler and have not grown up around my biological
family, although I have always known who they are. Two years ago, I got into an intense argument with my older biological brother. During this

I know that I needed to be the bigger person and reach out to him, not knowing what to expect. I also know that I had to follow my heart regardless
of what his actions might have been. Failure is only failure if you do not allow yourself to learn from it, and I learned a lot and grew as a person,
when I was honest enough to ask myself: "How could I have handled this better? ". I also learned not to ask yourself this question if you are not
prepared for the answer. I knew immediately that the first thing that I needed to do was some very serious soul searching and admit and
acknowledge all my own mistakes to my brother in person. One on one, face to face is always best when trying to resolve any issue. Admitting
your own mistake has a way of opening doors to an honest dialogue to begin. If you cannot admit your own mistake then you have truly not learned
from it. You must own up to your own actions. I know now how important it is to think before you act or speak. Reaction may not always be a good

Falsehood Of Failures Robbins Analysis
The Falsehoods of Failures Youth is both a lie and the embodiment of evil; although it is only a mere five letters, it violently moves the hearts of
humans. For some, it gives off feelings of nostalgia while for others it draws out dark hatred. Specifically, those that constantly celebrate their teenage
years are lying to themselves and to those around them. To those same individuals, secrets, lies, sins, and failures are naught but seeds of spice in their
youth. The mid 20th–century author Robbins declares that his youth (past faults and irritations) has helped him to become a creative thinker in the
modern world; however, he and many other's principles are deceit. Those that praise youth interpret everything in their natural habitat as an assertion of
their beliefs within this youth mold. For instance, Robbins is a victim to the plague of youth when he states, "I've come to believe that all my past
failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation[...]". In other words, Robbins explains failure is vital into evolving as an individual;
however, he is twisting all rationality into untieable metal knots in the name of youth. This not only seems very ignorant, but it also shows that the
author can't distinguish a unicorn–filled world from reality. To put it simply, individuals that fit

College : Success, And My Life Is Failure In College
College essay
An experience that has impacted me and my life is failure. In school we learn about a lot of successful people throughout history. What many people
don't know is that a lot of people we study in history weren't always successful starting out. People like Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney and
multi billionaire Bill Gates all had trouble on the way to success ! It's humanly normal to fail. Some of the greatest minds in history have failed in
order to succeed. Throughout all our lives we have experienced failure, it is a key factor in our lives that makes us more resilient . But what is
failure? Failure is the inability to succeed; being unsuccessful. For some failure can either make you or break you, however, it made me into the

would put my all into my work even if I didn't get good grades, and most importantly I would be a strong intelligent young man. Instead I gave up, I

The Father Of The Father In Khaled Hosseini's 'The Kite...
AllДЃhu Akbar. God is great. The father of all humanity is the greatest father there could ever be, therefore, the best earthly fathers are those who
emulate and revere God with their faith, love, and actions. An earthly father's most imperative duty is to pass reverence for and loyalty towards God
onto his sons. In this way, fathers may become instruments for God to work with among men. Godly fathers rear godly sons, who in turn become
fathers and raise devout sons of their own. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a story of two different fathers and the different impact each had in
the lives of their sons. Ali, father of Hassan, is a godly man who does all he can within his meager honor to impart to his son a desire for God. Baba,
father of Amir, is a man of wealth and stature but lacks godliness, and he passes this deficiency onto his son. The ungodliness in Amir's life stems
from his father and will later force Amir to find "a way to be good again" (Hosseini 2) throughout the bildungsroman that is The Kite Runner.
Ali's godliness as a father initiates the forces that redeem Amir throughout his journey, whereas Baba's ungodliness creates the conflicts in the novel
that require Amir to change. He is the greatest earthly father in the novel as he best honors God with his faith, love and actions, and he induces the
greatest changes in Amir's life because of his dedication to God. The humble yet determined Shiite faith of Ali permeates his character and
demonstrates his

Personal Narrative: My Experience With Failure In High School
Throughout the course of my high school career, I have learned that great success can come with failure. As stated by Denis Waitley, "Failure should
be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by
saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing." Waitley's quote has inspired me to not only learn from my mistakes, but to use them to my
advantage by learning more about myself and what I can accomplish. I have learned this best from my experience during my freshman year of high
school. During the first few months I was struggling trying to adapt to my new high school curriculum and social culture, I felt as though I was an

I had a internal struggle with myself and thinking whether or not I was even college material. The start of sophomore year I had come to the
conclusion that I can't just quit when things don't go according to my plan, I should always try my hardest and stay realistic and true to myself. I
made a promise to myself that I would not make the same mistakes I did in my freshman year, but to use them to know what I would have to do to
succeed. Acting upon this I placed myself in accelerated courses instead continuing in the honors program, and started to improve my study habits
to improve my test scores. It wasn't easy trying to adjust at first watching the people who I spent my freshman year brag about being in the honors
program, but I knew that this was the right decision for me and it would further boost my future success. Now that I have reached my senior year I
see that this was an important event in my life that has taught me that I can and will achieve my greatest success even if I do have some failures.
Since my visit to Penn State University Park Campus I see now that this is a college where I can use everything that I have learned about myself and
translate it into being a successful student. I believe that knowing how to reach my own expectations while as challenging myself is key to making
myself a great fit for Penn State

It Is Better to Have Tried and Failed Than to Have Never...

The saying "actions speak louder than words" can be applied to this scenario. Many people often dare to dream but fear stops them from ever

person sets out to achieve. One example we can learn from is one of the greatest swimmer the world has seen, Ian Thorpe.
Four time Swimming World's Swimmer of the Year, Ian Thorpe once said, "I think it's better to attempt something and fail than it is to not even

Speaking from personal experience, failure is the mother of success, and without overcoming the challenge posed to me, I would not make it a step
further. For example, ever since I stepped on the podium in the primary school swimming nationals, I have always wanted to have the chance to do it
again in the secondary school, scoring more points for my school. This year was the last year the school nationals where I could have a chance on
stepping on the podium once again and I made use of the opportunity I was given. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at the
pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in the afternoon for strength as well as water training. The number of times I would turn up
could go up to ten times a week. This arduous task went on for four to five months and in between, I still had to make sure that I was keeping up with
school curriculum. At the recent national schools, I competed and instead was placed 5th, missing the podium by a whopping one second. Although I
failed to reach the goal I set out to achieve, I knew that there was nothing else I could do as
I have always wanted to represent the country in the Combined School Games and the recent National Schools Swimming Championship would have
been my chance to qualify for the games. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after

My Resilience Essay
What is the single greatest personal asset that will serve you in realizing these goals?
I have grown over the course of my four years in college at Texas A&M University, and it has included many setbacks. However, one thing has
remained constant my resiliency. When times get rough I tend to fall, but without fail I always rise and exceed my expectations. In various situations
in my life I've been faced with obstacles, but I always push forward. The most memorable scenarios are my research project in Dr. Maren's
neuroscience lab and freshman year at Texas A&M University. In the Summer of 2015 I had the opportunity of accomplishing my own research project.
With the help of my graduate student, I led us to better understand the neural pathway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was raised in Nacogdoches, Texas, which is known for its small–town atmosphere and Stephen F. Austin State University. Due to being a small town,
Nacogdoches lacked advanced placement courses; therefore, most my time was spent in non–challenging course work. When I attended SFA as a
dual–credit student I experienced a minor shock, SFA was a step up from Nacogdoches High School; however, I quickly adapted and worked harder to
maintain the pace of my peers. When I finally got accepted to Texas A&M University I again faced the same academic obstacle, and experienced
major setbacks and failures. After my first semester of college I received a 2.7 gpa and received my first C in a class. Feelings of defeat and confusion
overcame me–my goals of attending medical school appeared to diminish before my eyes. I questioned my work ethic and intelligence. Despite the
feelings of failure, I never let myself fall into despair, and I moved forward. Every semester following my first semester at A&M I improved over
time; however, the in the Spring 2016 I finally overcame my academic hurdle and made my best grades to date. It has taken time to develop qualitative
techniques to retain information for difficult science

My Greatest Failure Research Paper
Have you ever been scared to try? Have you ever just wanted to quit after failing, the first attempt or after multiple? How hard are you willing to work?
I was told if I want something I was told I got to go and get it. Many people have told me I got to work even when people are sleeping. I have a family
friend who's son is in the NFL and they both told me how hard you have to work to get there. I'm working for that right now.
I'd say my greatest failure happened to me this year. I was originally starting in varsity at safety but lost my spot to a sophomore. I still supported him
but I was very mad with the coach. In practice I had a really bad attitude towards my coach and it just made it worse. My coach told me he still believes

When I was younger my mentality was great. I didn't fear anyone that was bigger than me or judge by how they looked (like if they had nice gear
then they must be pretty good). My dad was probably what motivated me and how great of a team I had back then, we lost 4 games in the 4
seasons I played before I moved from Knoxville, Tennessee. Before every game my dad gave me solid pep talks and I don't know if that affects
me because he passed away and I haven't had that motive as strong as it used to be and that what I think I need the most is a strong mentality. It's
funny though because I still have film of my games from pee wee and when I watch them now it brings back memories and brings some
motivation, definitely nostalgia. I still talk with my old teammates and they actually just won the Tennessee State Championship in football. I'm
proud of them and I need those kind of teammates. If I had teammates that cared about winning and losing and held their heads up high instead of
quitting when we were down I think that would motivate me too almost like peer pressure to be the best I can be. That's why I think our team and I
failed is because we didn't care enough. We had the talent we just didn't have the mentality. When I moved out here I got a real taste of football. The
atmosphere is terrific. The games is what I live for and the feeling of running through the helmet with the band playing and the crowd cheering gives
me chills because it's great and I love that it's apart of a game that I love to play. As a person who's passionate about football I want to play at the next
level. I still just want to prove everyone wrong that says I'm not going to be good. I want to show kids that I'm more than a joke and I'm willing to do
whatever it takes. I know that I have the ability to ball, and I pray to God it's good enough for a college scout to see. That is probably my best motive

Essay On Becoming A Snare Drummer
When looked upon correctly, failure is the world's best teacher, showing people both what they've done wrong in their experiments and trials, and
where they can improve for their next attempt. In my life, this has been my highest held philosophy. Experiencing failure and improving yourself
based on that lesson is fundamental to success. A fragment of time in my life where I experienced this was when I moved to my first season of
snare drum in the drum line. In the summer before tenth grade, I had accomplished my aspiration of becoming a snare drum player. However, I
swiftly discovered that my journey as a drummer was far from over. I struggled to do the simplest things, such as playing diddles (double strokes) and
having control over my sticks.

My Growth Mindset
A strong point in my life as a student is my growth mindset. This is an asset that I have acquired through perseverance and elders I have met that
inspire me to give it my all. For example, one person who has inspired me and that I look up to is my ninth grade teacher: Ms. Seelye. The first day
of her honors LA class made me very apprehensive because I wanted desperately to succeed. No matter how hard I tried though, on my first essay I
received a D. Furthermore, this growth mindset is also demonstrated in my ap world history class with Mr. Bopp that was very difficult for me at
first. My first assignment was a DBQ essay. I got a failing grade on my first paper since I had no idea the foundations for a good DBQ. In the two

Cumberland Avenue is a highly populated and narrow street at my university that Second Harvest had given up on attempting to recover from for
navigation reasons. My goal for my term as president of the Food Recovery Network was to recover from every restaurant on Cumberland in Second
Harvest's place. Not only did no restaurant on Cumberland agree to allow us to recover their otherwise unwanted food, very few managers listened to an
entire pitch. In other words, I achieved exactly zero percent of my goal. Rather than limit our recoveries to on–campus locations, however, we
redefined our goals and set targets for specifically grocery stores. While most were already affiliated with Second Harvest, one market did not donate

Failure is a dirty word. Being so charged with the feeling of despair that is to fail, and not the adulation that is to succeed. It has been said that
failing is the first step to success, and my greatest failure came at a critical time in my academic career. During the fall of my senior year I choose
to take the most rigorous course work I ever have. Encouraged by my teachers to take AP courses I elected to take AP Physics and AP Literature.
This as it turns out was a bad time to take these courses, as my seasonal depression has been getting worse over the years. The demands of my new AP
classes would prove to be a challenge I could not only rise up to but embrace the challenge. My grades began to dip as the air turned colder and the days

My Greatest Failure
My greatest failure : A case study in leadership
As there are many cultural differences in the world, working all together can sometime be problematic. Through a medical approach, we have
discovered some symptoms that illustrate this fact in the case we are meant to study : The french workers were reluctant to work with a German
manager : "The french were not particularly in favor of Bernard's appointment (they would have preferred a french man)" p.74 Three resignation in
eight months under Mr. Bernard's supervision. "Three employees have resigned from the company during this period" p.74 A letter to Mr. Warner, the

Difference in leadership styles, or the difference in the degree of participation that a manager allows in decision making : Mr. Abel was more a
autocratic leader : he would make a decision and announce to subordinates. He was typically the french "patron" with a paternalistic behavior.
Therefore, Mr. Bernard was more a free–rein leader : he would allow subordinates to make decisions and had no relationship with the subordinates.
Differences in personality types in business (according to Leigh) : Mr. Bernard seems to have a hard–changer personality in the fact that he believes in
tradition, following rules and sees a prescribed way of doing things. This probably comes from his studies. On the other hand, Mr. Abel seemed to
have a power–breaker personality in the fact that he was resourceful (thanks to his experience from the bottom of the company to the top without
studying anything), innovating and very good at motivating others. Dual factor theory from Frederick Herzberg : some hygiene factors, such as
supervision and interpersonal relations, are missing and lead to job dissatisfaction under Mr. Bernard's leadership. Supposedly, one of the motivators
that lead to job satisfaction is responsibility. In this case, the subordinates don't like having responsibilities,

Walking Into The Bowling Alley
Walking reluctantly into the bowling alley on a Thursday for my first practice was nerve racking. Pushing myself through the door wasn't easy, and
I was instantly overcome with feelings of trepidation. All of my teammates were well prepared, confident, with their chests held high. Why couldn't
I be like that? Looking around, I noticed everyone had a ball, shoes, and a bag. I immediately felt terribly apprehensive and hesitant. I turned to my
brother, pleading with him to drive me home, but he reassured me that one practice would not be so bad. I decided to give bowling a shot, but I
wasn't elated in the moment. Eventually, I told the man behind the counter my shoe size, picked out a ball, and ever so slowly walked down to the alley.

Hero's Journey Examples
The "Hero's Journey" is a common template in stories that involve a hero who goes on an adventure, wins a victory in a decisive crisis, and then
comes home changed or transformed. This template has been used in tales throughout history to convey the journey that a protagonist goes on. The
universality of the struggles and conflicts these heroes overcome allows this template to become as popular as it is today. Many of the stages that exist
within the "Hero's Journey" can be applied to my journey as well as yours. The stage of my grandfather's death in my journey is comparable to "The
Ordeal" in the "Hero's Journey."

John F. Kennedy 's Moral Lapse
Leaders fail often. The challenges of leadership are often complex and extremely demanding, which often leads to leadership failure. For most failure
leads to a dead end while for others growth is achieved from failures. From former president John F. Kennedy's moral lapse to the defeats of Apple
founder Steve Jobs, the road to leadership can be devastating. Being a leader is fluid, and involves many unforeseen factors and traits.
John F. Kennedy as this countries leader helped pave the way for civil rights legislation, but on the same hand failed many moral obligations as a
leader. Through his personal failures, John F. Kennedy was still able to move forward as a leader. Also, Steve Jobs was another leader who was able
to accomplish many things as a technological leader, but failed in aspects of his moral obligations as the leader of his household in the handling of his
daughter. Both men had many traits in common, but they both possessed several basic traits of a leader.
According to North house (2012), "for some people, leadership is a trait or an ability, for others it is a skill or a behavior, and for still others it is a
relationship or process" (p. 7). What truly defines leadership is at times difficult to grasp, because many see leadership in various ways. Being a
leader requires a mix of all of the complexities of leadership, and the views on which leadership qualities are important are shaped by personal
experiences. The text suggests we think about

How To A Failure In College
Experiencing a Failure Once when I experienced failure I was a junior in high school and I made the varsity team for volleyball. However I wasn't a
starter and I consider that one of my biggest failures. One of my biggest goals as a kid was to make the varsity team and play and it was an
amazing feeling knowing that I did make the team, however, I didn't play. I've always wanted to be on that varsity court, so knowing that I didn't
start motivated me to do better next year. So for the past year I've been working extra hard in and outside of practices just to make the extra effort to
make sure I will get to play my final year of high school. It affected me because I've always wanted to play and I started all other years

My Greatest Failure
My greatest failure was how I reacted to getting a "C" in my middle school science class. Growing up my grades weren't the best in middle school,
but for the one year I had to get perfect grades to go to the highschool of my choice I ended up getting a C in my science class and ruining my
chances. I had let down my family. Seeing their faces on report card pickup just drop down in disappointed is a miserable sight that flashes back to
haunt me at times. Yet my reaction to that failure was the real mistake I made because I had sworn to become a student that got all A's, I had lost
my self worth to a letter and had a letters dictate how I lived my life. One letter changed me forever, I fueled my anger and frustration into
becoming the ideal student. This anger at myself, fueled with my critique of every aspect of my being led me to work to improve my grades. I had
gotten all A's for the first time in my life that last quarter of seventh grade, with enough determination and hard work I had become the model
student I wanted to be. Showing unparalleled growth in my parents eyes. My image started shifting from the goofy kid to the smart kid in class. Yet,
the stress of perfection and getting that letter grade of A had started become a norm for me. I couldn't regress because I didn't want to become a
failure again.. This mentality fueled me burning me out emotionally at times, but I told myself what I was doing is good because of all the respect I
had gotten and it would help

Why Did I Pursue My Greatest Achievement?
For many individuals, their greatest achievement might be winning a trophy at a competition or attaining a prestigious award. However, for me, the
journey of reaching my greatest achievement is in and of itself an achievement. My greatest achievement thus far is making it to Victoria Junior
College (VJC) with my academic results. Allow me to explain why. Growing up, I was never academically inclined. Rather, I was a mediocre
student in school. I grew up with average results throughout primary school. My parents were worried that that I would not be able to get into
secondary school based on my results, so they encouraged me to try the Direct School Admission (DSA) route using Badminton, which was
successful. When I entered secondary school, I lost interest in my studies. Till this day, I remember very distinctly an incident that changed my
attitude towards my academics. My Mathematics teacher came up to me and told me that I was the last in class for the examination. It walloped me
that the whole class was ahead of me. Moreover, it was a crucial year as our performance would determine which subject combination we were eligible
to take. Thankfully, I had an extremely patient Mathematics teacher who ignited my passion for Mathematics. I started working very... Show more

did I know, I had been rejected by my dream school. I was utterly dismayed from then on, and could not believe that I had encountered failure once
again. I pondered over this for a considerable period of time, it took me awhile to get myself back on my two feet, and continue the race that had a

History Day Failure
Failure can feel devastating when you are living through the experience. I felt this way during one of the greatest failures in my life, failing to
qualify for State History Day in my junior year of high school. This was my third History Day competition and I had previously qualified for State.
While I entered the event with confidence from previous competitions and a final product that I thought was close to perfect, experiencing failure this
time taught me how to strive for the best that I can be, persevere through tough times, and that sometimes your best isn't always the best. In preparation
for History Day, I had created a 10–minute documentary about Senator Robert Dole and his impact on the disabled community through his work with
the Americans with Disabilities Act. Going into the district competition, I put countless hours of work into the project, from combing through the
hundreds of files that the Dole... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, it taught me how to strive for the best in classes and other activities that I participate in. The History Day process significantly improved my

me in life. Second, History Day taught me to persevere when times get tough by forcing me to work efficiently, even during late night work sessions,
so that I could meet deadlines and perfect the project as much as possible. Mediocrity was never an option, as I wanted to put in effort that would
result in an excellent product. Finally, after not moving on in the competition, I realized that my best may not always fit the expectations of others.
This taught me to always try my best even if the result may not be what I intended it to be. Putting forth maximum effort will give me the greatest

The major symptom is the experience differences between Mr. Abel and Dr. Bernard.
Mr. Abel is based on his detailed knowledge of business, his past experiences about problem solving and his paternalistic actions in managing the
company whereas Dr. Bernard is mostly based on his educational knowledge, intellectual reflection and cooperation between the employees.
Moreover, the age difference between Mr. Abel and Dr. Bernhard is very significant. Mr. Abel has no real educational background; he has been
working in Media AG for almost his entire career and was involved in different positions, which allowed him to climb in the company hierarchy. On
the other hand, Dr. Bernard is much younger and managed to obtain a Master Degree in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, Dr. Bernard was more of a democratic leader and his way of performing was much different. He expected from his subordinates to
provide suggestions to problems, to have a greater participation in the decision making process and encouraged mutual consultation rather than just
giving orders. This is a critical change in leadership style, which can be explained by different Power Distance scores between France and Germany.
When the PDI (Power Distance) score is high there is a considerable dependence of subordinates on bosses, which is the case of France where the
score is 68. This is a relatively high result compared to Germany, which has a score of 35. In this case where the PDI is low, there is
interdependence between bosses and subordinates. So Mr. Abel and Dr. Bernard had different styles of dealing with problems, which created
confusion for the employees. Moreover, in countries with a high PDI score such as France, the power within companies is very centralised and
employees are not supposed to be part of the decision making process. This created a problem when Dr. Bernard, coming from a country with a Low
PDI score, tried to involve them in making decisions since these methods were completely new to them.
In order to solve those problems, we can think of four different solutions with their advantages as well as disadvantages, which are the following:
One of the solutions that we

Iliad and Achilles Speech
In the modern world, people, as a society, have always given themselves a goal or goals that they would like to attain at some point during their
lifetime. Many people seek to attain riches, love, happiness or high stature within society. When we people set that goal, we tend to mold our
lifestyles around it. As people work throughout their lives to achieve this ultimate goal, it becomes apparent to others what it is we are working so
hard for. Just as this pattern is evident in modern society, it can also be seen in the times of Homer, particularly in the great Greek epic, theIliad. This
distinct pattern can be seen in Achilles, one of the most vital characters in the story. Achilles, being the ultimate most powerful warrior of all... Show

This insecurity is the source of Achilles “duty” to exact revenge upon Hektor, the assassin of Patroklos. Achilles makes the
decision to kill Hektor in spite of the fact that his fate will be to die. Even though Achilles plans to attack Hektor for vengeful purposes, he has an
underlying motive. Because Achilles feels he has failed his friend, he wants or needs to save face. This is in order to keep his goal of ultimate
glory within his grasp. Achilles sees the opportunity his been waiting for all his life. By killing Hektor and then being slain himself, he achieves his
lofty goal of ultimate glory. It is evident through this passage that Homer is building up this grand battle between two of the greatest warriors of this
time period. Achilles, already regarded as the greatest fighter, speaks of Hektor not in a degrading manner, rather in a respectful manner, taking into
account his numerous heroic feats. “…my other companions, who in their numbers went down before the glorious Hektor”
(378, Iliad, 18.102). Homer wrote this line as if he were a promoter of a boxing fight. He lifts the strength of Hektor’s character, and in doing
so makes for a more rivaled battle. At this point in the passage, Achilles in a sense forewarns everyone of his intentions,

Failure Is Strength, By Michael Jordan

  • 1. Failure Is Strength, By Michael Jordan Failure is Strength "I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." once said by the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. In today's world, people every day are taking different opportunities and trying new activities. With a great chance of failure, they still decide to risk it all. As a result, they learn a valuable life lesson that helps create them into a stronger person. Failure can strengthen an individual by creating new opportunities and motivating them to do better. Creating new opportunities is one way that failure can strengthen a person. For instance, Thomas Edison did not create the light bulb with just one trial. It took many trial and errors to get where he wanted to be. Without failing, he wouldn't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. My Greatest Failure Research Paper Malcolm Forbes publisher of Forbes magazine once said "Failure is success if we learn from it." In life we as humans have many ups and downs, trials and tribulations, failures and success. However it is what we do with our most sever downfalls that lead to some of our greatest achievements. For example my greatest failure was when I was in the eighth grade I applied to go to the City Of Medicine Academy however I was not accepted.Although I was not able to attend the City Of Medicine I was able to attend one of the most innovative and extraordinary high schools in Durham, North Carolina. As a middle school student I was aspired to go to City of Medicine Academy all year I had gotten good grade, a four the highest score you could make on the science E.O. C. and I had even asked my... I felt like a total failure I didn't know whether, my grades weren't good enough, or if my teacher gave me a bad recommendation or maybe I because they saw something in me that was unsuitable for their school. It was like my game plan had been thrown off I had planned to go to City Of Medicine Academy, then Howard University for my Bachelor degree and then UNC Chapel Hill for my master and doctorate degree. Nonetheless even though I was not accepted into City Of medicine academy I ended up going to the school that I was suppose to go to Hillside New Tech. • 3. Icarus Metamorphosis Oscar Wilde, in his quote that praises Icarus' "fearless flight," takes an opposing view to the lesson learned from reading the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus. In the myth, Icarus' hubris, or extreme arrogance, in defying the Gods and ignoring his father's instructions about flying too close to the sun, is punished by his wings melting and falling to his death. The theme is that one should respect rules and their elders and live within their limits. However, Oscar Wilde put a different spin on the lesson to be learned fromIcarus' adventure and tragedy. Wilde poetically said that Icarus' success was his "fearless flight" and that if he didn't take the risk of flying too close to "the burning light" of the sun, then that would be "the greatest tragedy of them all." He believes that the adventures and risks we take in life are what make life worth living, and that a life lived that does not experience the thrills of risk, adventure, and possibly success, even for just a moment, is a life not well lived. In a sense, Wilde believes that hubris is needed to do amazing things. The arrogance to ignore the risks may result in great successes, and if you try hard and don't succeed, then even the brave attempt is success. The only failure or tragedy is not to try at all. ... If I fail in trying, I will learn lessons from my failures, and try again or try a different path. Role Of Achievement In The Odyssey The Odyssey of Achievement "Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort." –Franklin D. Roosevelt A journey, doesn't necessarily require a road but always has a path of discovery. Coming to the end of a journey is an achievement, if the challenges along the way were challenging enough, "requiring effort, courage, or skill" (Webster online) the achievement will be cherished. Seeking a path in any life decision will lead to an achievement, whether it's a positive or negative result is up to the achiever themselves. A mother that shows no interest in raising her children, the children are not productive or morally responsible end in an achievement in failure by that mother. Not all negative achievements are failures. A negative achievement can become a positive, again it depends on the achiever and what they choose do with the achievement in question. "Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts"– Winston Churchill. Throughout history the most successful people had a relationship with failure and still went on to make their mark on the world. You can have a live time of fails and one success to make it all worth it. "I suppose there are clues about his life there in the shut–up–and–locked room, perhaps even some traces of my mother, but better to be content with ignorance, I've always thought, than haunted by the truth" (Brume 101). A given opportunity to achieve (negative or positive) should not be ignored, it's a gift of a life experience that expands your senses and enhances thought, it's not something to be afraid of. Through failure you are supposed to look at the positives and learn from the outcome. Most of my intentions in life began with failure. My academic ambition was ruptured by drastic failure that could of ruined my chances of getting accepted into any college. Failure had taken over my life. College has always been a dream for me. My mother started college during highschool and my father was given a full ride to the University of Louisville. Academics and Athletics were praised in myfamily. Starting freshman year I had to greatest plan to make acceptable grades and out do every other female athletes in the sports I participated in. For a while, it was a success. During my sophomore year I began to question many aspects of my life. Like most teens, small problems with my parents started to arise, only mine weren't small. My mother and I both deeply suffered from our daily feuds with each other that eventually lead to a mother daughter divorce. I moved out and in with my father. I thought being away from my mother would bring some happiness, it only got worse. I missed her entirely to much but I could never tell her nor apologize, my pride was vast. • 7. My Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Student The education we receive today holds the power to shape the individuals we will be in the future. Not only does our education aid our choices throughout school, but also the choices we make in our personal lives like where we choose to work and how we portray ourselves to society. Personally, I have enjoyed my educational experience. I have enjoyed learning new concepts and interacting with new people. Of course, there are obstacles along the way. However, these obstacles have given me the opportunity to realize my strengths and weaknesses and learn to improve in both areas. As a student, I hold onto my perseverance, seek guidance from influential figures in my life, and embrace my challenges to which all contribute to my hope to become the finest version of myself. My greatest strength as a student is my perseverance. No matter the difficulty of an assignment, I choose to give it my all until the end. For example, a challenge I have faced several times as a student is working with uncooperative peers. With such a difficulty, I choose to stay calm and compromise ideas with others to solve the problems. Nevertheless, if the problem is not resolved I will continue to work on the assignment until it is complete with the my best work. I have noticed that I am not discouraged by such problems, but instead use these complications as learning points in my educational experience. • 8. Personal Narrative: Why Doesn T Fail The most valuable piece of advice that I have been given was from my older sister. She quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson to me after I had been very upset about badly losing a championship soccer game. She told me that "Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in rising up every time we fail," so I should not use this loss as a way to give up, but instead as a motive to become better. At the time I did quite comprehend what she was saying, but now, looking back upon that moment, I realize how those few words have shaped the way I see myself, others, and the world. From hearing those words, I realized that failure happens to everyone; however, how we overcome it is much more important in defining who we are than the failure itself. Also, enduring ... Ever since I was little though, I've envisaged being a success story, at least for a person in my situation. I'm from a household of a single mother living below the poverty line and a father that might be bereft of life, and although it sounds malevolent, my goal in life has been to be nothing like either of them. Unlike my father at fifteen, I pour my heart and soul into every school assignment I do, even if I think it's inane. I work scrupulously on every paper that passes under my right hand. • 10. Review Of Ralph Waldo Emerson's 'Always Get Back Up' Always Get Back Up Ralph Waldo Emerson was a famous poet and a leader in the transcendentalist movement in the 19th century. One of Emerson's famous quotes was "The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but rising every time we fail." This quote has a lot of meaning. Many people can relate to it because of sports, school, and life in general. Michael Jordan had a quote very similar to Emerson's. "I've missed more than nine thousand shots in my career. I've lost almost three hundred games. Twenty six times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." (Jordan). This quote has taken a toll on me through many things in school, sports, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time I was very small and I was not a great football player. This brought the whole team down. We finished the season with only three wins and about seven losses. Our team practiced efficiently the next season. We finished with zero losses and ten wins. The way that our team had risen was a perfect example of this quote. Another example of pursuing after failure is the story of Thomas Edison. He failed thousands of times but he kept persevering. His goal was to make a viable, electric light bulb. One day a reporter asked why he hadn't given up and he responded with, "I now know definitely over 9,000 ways an electric light bulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp" (Edison). Shortly after, Edison was successful. He invented the first incandescent electric light bulb. This comes to show that Thomas Edison persevered through tough times. "The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but rising every time we fail" (Emerson). People fail all of the time. One of the best feelings on this planet is rising after failure. I did this when it came to grades and sports. Thomas Edison did this when it came to inventing the electric light bulb. • 11. Personal Narrative: What Was Your Greatest Failure What Was Your Greatest Failure and What Did You Learn From It? Every student has been taught and understands how to succeed. Over many years of schooling it is ingrained into our minds that if we don't succeed then we fail. This mentality has prevented many people from learning from their mistakes; however, if students learn to see their mistakes not as a failure but as a lesson to learn from, we could all become ameliorated people. One of my greatest failure occurs during my third season on the Blue Valley Tigers Lacrosse Team. A recurring thought running through our head was that we had already lost, but that next year we would definitely win. This was a shared opinion by many of my teammates since we had no seniors and would have the same team next year that we would be the foremost lacrosse team in Kansas; however we still had a game to play and no one wanted to lose, but many walked in with a pessimistic attitude, including myself. Our team marched out of the locker rooms and thundered onto the field for the beginning of the game. After the game the team, demoralized, walked back to our lockers rooms where we packed up our gear knowing we had just lost (score?). This was a forlorn time in my life, I felt defeated and embarrassed. As much as it exasperated me it was a very important turning point in my life where I learned some critical lessons. The obvious take away was to stay positive and not give up. This game had crushed the spirit of everyone on the team, I didn't even want to keep playing in the second half. Even then we finished the game and went home knowing we could have done more. This even showed me how important it is to give one hundred percent effort in everything you do if you want to be successful. You have to prepare and give it everything you have to ... • 12. College Admissions Essay: My Greatest Source Of Failure Perhaps my greatest source of dedication is also the same whim that has been attacking society: peer pressure. As the only child, my parents adored and even spoiled me; however, they also placed great expectations upon me. At first, my outlook on everything that they have done is trivial, something to account for a circumstance that will never occur. Even as a child, I cannot tolerate the outlook of failure. Every once in a while, I would become despondent from a fault, but I never let it stop me. In my eyes, that one failure is spiting me, and I extend my efforts to accomplish a task just to show myself that it was possible. There was one incident that set back my courage and determination to improve upon myself when I was young. At the time, I was an overweight kid. Even at the age of 5, my weight ranged from 110 to 120 pounds, and the numbers simply never went down, only up. Although in elementary school the teachers and advisors gave all sorts of lessons on ignoring bullies and what they say, the lessons were, as I experienced, easier to speak of than to put in action. The worst incident occurred when I was in second grade with a fifth grader, who was eating lunch at the "silent table." Thinking back on it, I cannot remember his exact words or my exact response; I just remember the intense feelings of anger and despair caused by his jeering. From that incident forward, my weight rarely changed even up to eighth grade. Even though I was growing from the height of 4... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. College Admissions Essay: My Greatest Failure My Greatest Failure My greatest failure had led to one of my greatest accomplishments. I hate to look back at the period where I struggled.. From as long as I can remember, I always thought I was never good enough. There was always someone prettier, taller, richer, or more talented than I thought I was. I had a range of insecurities from my grades at school to the home I grew up in. Looking back, it was like a rain cloud over my head. I remember this rain cloud of insecurities following me from kindergarten until my senior year of high school. This rain cloud tried to destroy the person I was growing to be. My greatest failure was giving into this rain cloud and almost letting it destroy me. Freshman year was the year of prosperity for the rain cloud. A large, new school meant harder classes, more girls to compete with, and new classmates to impress. The rain cloud grew until I could not stand to be under it anymore. My unhealthy eating habits that I thought were helping me were doing the opposite. These habits became more frequent and intense. • 14. Fear Essay : What Is A Teen's Worst Fear What is a teen's worst fear? We all have, are or will be teen's. As I am an adolescent, what really drives me crazy, makes my palms sweaty but what wistfully keeps me going is my fear of failure. This fear is certainly not the only things that stresses me out but it is what I believe to be a teen's greatest fear. Of course, the fear of failure is not limited to just adolescents, it affects everyone, but that is the age where children really start to worry about their future. Also, your teen years are when you think most about what other people think about you. There are many reasons to my opinion. For example, family pressure, social status and the fact that teen's like to skip the failure in life are all factors of Atychiphobia (fear of failure). Additionally, these are also the factors that I will be talking about today. One reason why I believe that a teens worst fear is failure is because teen's generally like to skip the failure that comes with life. For example, most teen's try to avoid public speaking such as presentations because they are afraid that they mess up when they present. This causes teen's to have a lack of experience when it comes to public speaking which is an important requirement in most jobs. Furthermore, another example I can use to prove myself is in the book Tripping which we were supposed to read for book club. In space that is certainly of the highest priority, however in life failure is a reality. Failure will inevitably happen to all of us. My biggest failure and greatest disappointment and the one that has bothered me the most, was a failure on my part to communicate effectively. I was adopted as a toddler and have not grown up around my biological family, although I have always known who they are. Failure is only failure if you do not allow yourself to learn from it, and I learned a lot and grew as a person, when I was honest enough to ask myself: "How could I have handled this better? ". I also learned not to ask yourself this question if you are not prepared for the answer. I knew immediately that the first thing that I needed to do was some very serious soul searching and admit and acknowledge all my own mistakes to my brother in person. One on one, face to face is always best when trying to resolve any issue. Admitting your own mistake has a way of opening doors to an honest dialogue to begin. If you cannot admit your own mistake then you have truly not learned from it. You must own up to your own actions. I know now how important it is to think before you act or speak. • 16. Falsehood Of Failures Robbins Analysis The Falsehoods of Failures Youth is both a lie and the embodiment of evil; although it is only a mere five letters, it violently moves the hearts of humans. For some, it gives off feelings of nostalgia while for others it draws out dark hatred. Specifically, those that constantly celebrate their teenage years are lying to themselves and to those around them. To those same individuals, secrets, lies, sins, and failures are naught but seeds of spice in their youth. The mid 20th–century author Robbins declares that his youth (past faults and irritations) has helped him to become a creative thinker in the modern world; however, he and many other's principles are deceit. Those that praise youth interpret everything in their natural habitat as an assertion of their beliefs within this youth mold. For instance, Robbins is a victim to the plague of youth when he states, "I've come to believe that all my past failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation[...]". In other words, Robbins explains failure is vital into evolving as an individual; however, he is twisting all rationality into untieable metal knots in the name of youth. In school we learn about a lot of successful people throughout history. What many people don't know is that a lot of people we study in history weren't always successful starting out. People like Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney and multi billionaire Bill Gates all had trouble on the way to success ! It's humanly normal to fail. Some of the greatest minds in history have failed in order to succeed. Throughout all our lives we have experienced failure, it is a key factor in our lives that makes us more resilient . But what is failure? Failure is the inability to succeed; being unsuccessful. For some failure can either make you or break you, however, it made me into the intelligent, hardworking person I am today. "Giving up is the only sure way to fail".Five years ago that is exactly what I did. In junior high school I failed to uphold the values that I set forth prior to beginning junior high school. I always told myself that I would work hard for my grades, that I would put my all into my work even if I didn't get good grades, and most importantly I would be a strong intelligent young man. Instead I gave up, I slacked off, got my house called every week, and worst of all I acted a fool in class.Ultimately my grades paid the price, and so did I. The father of all humanity is the greatest father there could ever be, therefore, the best earthly fathers are those who emulate and revere God with their faith, love, and actions. An earthly father's most imperative duty is to pass reverence for and loyalty towards God onto his sons. In this way, fathers may become instruments for God to work with among men. Godly fathers rear godly sons, who in turn become fathers and raise devout sons of their own. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a story of two different fathers and the different impact each had in the lives of their sons. Ali, father of Hassan, is a godly man who does all he can within his meager honor to impart to his son a desire for God. Baba, father of Amir, is a man of wealth and stature but lacks godliness, and he passes this deficiency onto his son. The ungodliness in Amir's life stems from his father and will later force Amir to find "a way to be good again" (Hosseini 2) throughout the bildungsroman that is The Kite Runner. Ali's godliness as a father initiates the forces that redeem Amir throughout his journey, whereas Baba's ungodliness creates the conflicts in the novel that require Amir to change. He is the greatest earthly father in the novel as he best honors God with his faith, love and actions, and he induces the greatest changes in Amir's life because of his dedication to God. • 21. Personal Narrative: My Experience With Failure In High School Throughout the course of my high school career, I have learned that great success can come with failure. As stated by Denis Waitley, "Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing." Waitley's quote has inspired me to not only learn from my mistakes, but to use them to my advantage by learning more about myself and what I can accomplish. I have learned this best from my experience during my freshman year of high school. During the first few months I was struggling trying to adapt to my new high school curriculum and social culture, I felt as though I was an outcast by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had a internal struggle with myself and thinking whether or not I was even college material. The start of sophomore year I had come to the conclusion that I can't just quit when things don't go according to my plan, I should always try my hardest and stay realistic and true to myself. I made a promise to myself that I would not make the same mistakes I did in my freshman year, but to use them to know what I would have to do to succeed. Acting upon this I placed myself in accelerated courses instead continuing in the honors program, and started to improve my study habits to improve my test scores. It wasn't easy trying to adjust at first watching the people who I spent my freshman year brag about being in the honors program, but I knew that this was the right decision for me and it would further boost my future success. Now that I have reached my senior year I see that this was an important event in my life that has taught me that I can and will achieve my greatest success even if I do have some failures. Since my visit to Penn State University Park Campus I see now that this is a college where I can use everything that I have learned about myself and translate it into being a successful student. The saying "actions speak louder than words" can be applied to this scenario. Many people often dare to dream but fear stops them from ever moving forward on their goals. The fear of failure, of not knowing if it is possible to accomplish what may seem like the most unrealistic dream a person sets out to achieve. One example we can learn from is one of the greatest swimmer the world has seen, Ian Thorpe. Four time Swimming World's Swimmer of the Year, Ian Thorpe once said, "I think it's better to attempt something and fail than it is to not even attempt it, so I'm glad that I've been prepared to put myself on the line there." For example, ever since I stepped on the podium in the primary school swimming nationals, I have always wanted to have the chance to do it again in the secondary school, scoring more points for my school. This year was the last year the school nationals where I could have a chance on stepping on the podium once again and I made use of the opportunity I was given. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in the afternoon for strength as well as water training. The number of times I would turn up could go up to ten times a week. This arduous task went on for four to five months and in between, I still had to make sure that I was keeping up with school curriculum. At the recent national schools, I competed and instead was placed 5th, missing the podium by a whopping one second. Although I failed to reach the goal I set out to achieve, I knew that there was nothing else I could do as I have always wanted to represent the country in the Combined School Games and the recent National Schools Swimming Championship would have been my chance to qualify for the games. For most failure leads to a dead end while for others growth is achieved from failures. From former president John F. Kennedy's moral lapse to the defeats of Apple founder Steve Jobs, the road to leadership can be devastating. Being a leader is fluid, and involves many unforeseen factors and traits. John F. Kennedy as this countries leader helped pave the way for civil rights legislation, but on the same hand failed many moral obligations as a leader. Through his personal failures, John F. Kennedy was still able to move forward as a leader. Also, Steve Jobs was another leader who was able to accomplish many things as a technological leader, but failed in aspects of his moral obligations as the leader of his household in the handling of his daughter. Both men had many traits in common, but they both possessed several basic traits of a leader. According to North house (2012), "for some people, leadership is a trait or an ability, for others it is a skill or a behavior, and for still others it is a relationship or process" (p. 7). On the contrary, Dr. Bernard was more of a democratic leader and his way of performing was much different. He expected from his subordinates to provide suggestions to problems, to have a greater participation in the decision making process and encouraged mutual consultation rather than just giving orders. This is a critical change in leadership style, which can be explained by different Power Distance scores between France and Germany. When the PDI (Power Distance) score is high there is a considerable dependence of subordinates on bosses, which is the case of France where the score is 68. This is a relatively high result compared to Germany, which has a score of 35. In this case where the PDI is low, there is interdependence between bosses and subordinates. So Mr. Abel and Dr. Bernard had different styles of dealing with problems, which created confusion for the employees. Moreover, in countries with a high PDI score such as France, the power within companies is very centralised and employees are not supposed to be part of the decision making process. This created a problem when Dr. Bernard, coming from a country with a Low PDI score, tried to involve them in making decisions since these methods were completely new to them. Many people seek to attain riches, love, happiness or high stature within society. When we people set that goal, we tend to mold our lifestyles around it. As people work throughout their lives to achieve this ultimate goal, it becomes apparent to others what it is we are working so hard for.
