Monel 400 is an alloyof copper and nickel with high strength and
durability. Monel 400 has high corrosion resistance in a wide range of
media includingsea water, acidic & alkaline environments. Monel wire
mesh is used by naval shipyards and companies specializingin marine
technologies. Monel 400 wire is drawn to various specifications for high
performance applications includinghydrocarbon processingequipment,
aerospace, chemical processing. It is used in pumps, fittings, valves, heat
exchangers andshafts.
Monel mesh is used in knitted wire mesh gaskets providinga cost effective
solution to high shieldingperformance applications in the magnetic and
electrical fields includingEMP. Gaskets are made with all metal knitted
mesh or knitted metal mesh over an elastomer core to allow for recovery
after compression. There are various types of gasket profiles such as Round,
Round with Fin & Rectangular. Additional IP sealingis provided by bonding
an environmental seal to the side of the mesh gasket. These gaskets are
2. also customizedinto ‘D’ shapes and other shapes as per customer’s specific
requirements. The gaskets are supplied as base products or can be
fabricated into designs specifiedby customers allowingreadyto use
fitment to equipment. Over-compressioncan be prevented by fitting
compression stops or collars to the 300 series.
Monel wire mesh is used to develop specializedproducts that use the
combination of flexibilityof knitted Monel wire mesh with the
environmental sealingcapabilityof silicone filledwoven wire mesh known
as silicone filledknitted Monel wire mesh. The material’s flexibilitylends it
to be suitable for applications requiringconformingproperties around
corners and edges. The silicone filler supports the knitted monel mesh and
allows the material to create an environmental sealas both a cover and a
compression seal. Electricalconductivityis maintainedon one surface for
ease of grounding. Knitted woven mesh is available in 8.0 inch widths and
in 12.0 inch widths with longer lead times. Thicknesses can be modified
however there would be a slight penalty in flexibility. Thickeningmaterial
without adding layers of mesh eliminates the exposed electrically
conductive surface on one side.
Monel mesh is widelyused in the production of gaskets. This product is a
knitted wire mesh over an elastomer core such as neoprene or silicone
cellular profile or tube. It has two layers of knitting over the elastomer core
but small sections of 1,5mm diameter need only 1 layer. The knitted mesh
is formed into the selected profile making a continuous gasket strip. This
gasket strip is flexible and compressible makingan excellentRFI/EMI/EMP
gasket. Tubular roundprofiles can be made in differentwire types and with
various elastomer cores.
Monel wire mesh is used as a strong metal insulation coveringwith various
types of high resistance qualities. This alloy has resistance to sea water and
3. steam at high temperatures. This robust mesh retains its strength and its
physical characteristics even when coming in contact with incrediblyhigh
temperatures.This mesh is suitable for use in corrosive environments and is
commonly used for oil, chemical & marine industries due to its durability.
