PA Core Standards
The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and the
National Governors Association (NGA), with participation of the
overwhelming majority of states, set a goal to create standards
that are “research and evidence-based, aligned with college and
work expectations, include rigorous content and skills and are
internationally benchmarked.” As Pennsylvania follows the
development of the PreK-12 Core Standards and determines the
alignment of Core Standards to PA Standards,

So when looking at SAS and all that rigor that it has to offer, we must also consider how UDL will support the PA Common Core Standards. Remember, UDL is the flexible format to provide access to these standards for all students. Let’s look at some examples.
The tools to be explored over the next few slides are not age specific nor are they only limited to the PA Common Core standard on the slide. They are some examples that may be used across grade levels and standards. For each tool, we are going to identify which UDL principle it connects to. Ultimately, there will be many ways that these tools support UDL. It will mostly depend on how you plan to use these tools in the classroom.
