2. A Change
■ For our second draft of music video and ancillaries, we decided that a change in song,
narrative and performance was needed.
■ We felt that the first idea was not achievable, and did not end up looking as we wanted
it to.
■ Due to this, we changed our song to Mumford and Sons song; Believe. A link to that
song is bellow.
3. The song
■ Band: Mumford & Sons
■ Song: Believe
■ Genre: Alternative Rock
■ Instrument used within the video: Guitar & Piano
■ Mumford & Sons purpose of their songs :Their previous album’s genre was based on folk
music which was all about their music and just being genuine. However, in this album they
decided to change up the genre of their music and it is more about giving hope to others
and making them believe about themselves. In this song, their aim is to make people go for
their dreams and never give up.
■ The song is about overcoming obstacles and challenges in life and deciding whether it is
worth going for it or not.
4. The Plot
■ Performance/narrative
■ The video starts off by a player dribbling with a football and gets tackled horrifically and cuts to a
black screen with beep noise to indicate that it was a serious injury. This shot will be very quick and
fast paced.
■ Next scene starts off by the injured player walking down the stairs in crutches after the injury.
■ Unable to play football for the upcoming few months. The player becomes really upset and wants to
give up. However, he doesn’t just give up there and starts his recovery. Going to gym, doing exercises
and tries his best to recover. He tries to train with a football but the foot isn’t the same and he makes
few mistakes along the way but he doesn’t stop.
■ A few months go by, and he is fully recovered and plays an important football match and gets given a
contract to sign for a semi-professional team.
■ For the Performance part, we want to film at a more professional environment. We want to achieve
this by having a black background with flash lights and a smoke machine. It will suit the genre
because Mumford & Sons perform mainly in front of a large audience in big concert halls. Therefore,
the audience would feel more attracted to see this music video.
■ The performance will be cut up inside of the narrative.
7. Costume/ Props
We decided on this costume, as it
reflects the genre and mood of our
chosen song and artist.We believe
that it looks professional.
Also, having the main singer
slightly stand out from the band
with the waistcoat draws the
viewers to him, making him stand
out as the lead.
The props we used in this video
include instruments (guitar,
keyboard) and a mic.We also used
a crutch to show the extent of the
injuries in the narrative. We also
used football equipment such as
boots, cones and goals.
