2. Genre The band describe themselves as a mixture of Indie, Country and rock music. By listening to the song ‘Sunshine’ we have decided that the music video genre that would most suit this song is: Performance because the band already portray their image through the clothes they wear and their music has a very distinct style , which is quite relaxed and wouldn't suit a spectacle. There are some elements of narrative in the song too which becomes clearer when listened to a few times, we may decide to use this and show some of the narrative along with the performance in the video.
3. Target audience We think that the target audience for this song would be people aged 15- 20 the band members themselves would come under this age bracket as well. the music they produce is quite new and different, because it combines, indie, country and rock. Therefore only people that enjoy those genres would enjoy this. As the band started on MySpace younger people are possibly more likely to come across them. This particular song ‘sunshine’ is about a relationship which is something teens can very easily relate too.
4. Representation Clothing- In the video we would have to make sure we maintained the bands image, we can do this by the clothes the people in our video wear. We would choose simple clothes with quirky accessories e.g. A hat. The clothes would probably be worn in an individual style to keep with the indie genre and they will be limited colours to keep the focus on the song and not the clothes. The make-up for girls in the video would be kept minimalistic to again keep focus on the song because it is performance based and bright over the top make up is not needed because we are not trying to create a spectacle video. By having clothes and make up like this we will be able to keep focus on the song and the lyrics and to portray the bands different individual style. It would also help to make it more realistic to the audience because they may be clothes they would wear them sleves.
6. Setting From the lyrics in the song we have decided to use everyday settings like a home or a street somewhere that the audience could relate to because the lyrics of the songs are quite relatable to the audience too. We would not use any spectacular locations to film because it would detract from the music and wouldn't suit the style of song.
7. Actors In our music video we will need three male actors to play the band members as we will be doing a performance based video. We will also need a female in the video to play the love interest because the lyrics are about a relationship and a guy missing a girl and we will be showing that in the video.
