2. What is Focus Features?
Focus Features (was formerly known as USA
Films, Universal Focus, Good Machine,
Gramercy Pictures and October Films) is the
art house films division of NBC Universal, and
acts as both a producer and distributor for its
own films and a distributor for foreign films.
It was founded in 1992 (Gramercy Pictures),
1999 (USA Films), 2001 (Focus Features). The
headquarters is at Universal City, California,
U.S.
3. Who owns them? (Parent Company)
The Parent Company is Universal Studios,
whilst the owner is NBC Universal
(Comcast Corporation). Even more the
subsidiaries are Good Machine and
FilmDistrict. In addition to this the
Divisions is Focus World.
5. Description of the Logo
We see some yellow, green and blue circles
zooming in and out very slow, then the words
"F O C U S" and "FEATURES", in the same
style as before, fades in, only that now the
text is yellow. The "O" is still blurred out. It’s
quite ironic as the name is Focus yet the “O”
is out of focus which defines the logo even
more and makes it more interesting and you
can remember it more too.
6. How has the logo changed over time
and why?
The colours of the logo has mainly changed over time
but the only thing that’s stayed the same over time is
the typography layout and how the “O” is out of
focus. The colours originally just was black and white
which is very plain, but now in their current logo they
have a mixture of colours varying from blues, orange
and yellow which makes the logo as a whole more
colourful and recognisable. Furthermore it gives it a
better effect from the background of having circles
moving around like the whole logo is trying to be
more in focus just as the name is suggesting.
