PROJECT
ON
ESTABLISHMENT OF VALUE
ADDITION UNIT FOR
AGRICULTURE PRODUCE
INTRODUCTION
 A produce when subjected to a change for higher
monitory gains, is referred as
VALUE ADDITION.
 This can be seen in various forms like training of
ornamental plants for presentation, grading of
produce for sell, packing of produce in attractive
packs for sell, extraction of aroma, flavour,
antioxidant, assimilates, oleoresins, preparation of
new products from original produce are examples of
VALUE ADDITION.
Objectives
To provide market for local farmer.
 To generate higher income.
 To sale the processed product.
 To reduce the handling and storage losses.
Self employment.
VALUE ADDITION IN DIFFERENT
AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE
--POTATO—POTATO CHIPS
--TOMATO—TOMATO KETCHUP
--AONLA—CANDY
--NONI—TOFFEE & CANDY
--ONION—ONION POWDER FOR MEDICINAL USE
--MANGO—MANGO PULP
--PADDY—RICE PROCESSING
VALUE ADDITION
IN
MANGO
 Chikhli, near highway ,Ta- chikhli,
 Dist- Navsari
Justification :
 Chikhli is one of the major mango growing area
in south Gujarat as climate is better for mango
cultivation.
 The problems of post-harvest loss is not there and availability
of raw material to start up of mango pulp processing industry.
Location :
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
 Fruit Elevator
 Fruit Sorting Machine
 Brush and Spray Cleaning Machine
 Peeling and Destoning Machine
 Juice Fine Filter
 Mixing Tank
 Standardization Tank
 Sealing Machine
 Power Conveyer
 Packing Conveyer
 Knowledge required regarding , power and machinery.
 Scientific knowledge of the Mango Fruits e.g. Mango
species, grade, processing, transportation, middleman
etc.
Trading knowledge e.g. linkage with other selling
center,
Managerial knowledge.
 Knowledge of accountability.
FIXED COST
Particulars Amount (in lakhs)
Land (2 Acre) 6,00,000
Building 10,50,000
Furniture 90,000
Machineries 4,00,000
Cold storage for preservation Fruit 3,00,000
Total 23,40,000
VARIABLE COST
Particulars Amount (in Lakhs)
Fruits 5,00,000
Packing material 60,000
Chemicals and preservatives 80,000
Electricity/ fuel 70,000
Total 7,10,000
OTHER COST
A) Supervisor (1) – Rs.12,000/month 72,000
B) Skilled Labour (2) – Rs.8000/month 96,000
C) Helper (4) – Rs.5000/month 1,20,000
2) Depreciation @ 10 % of fixed cost 2,34,000
3) Miscellaneous Cost 80,000
4) Advertisement Cost 40,000
Total 6,42,000
Particulars Amount (in Lakhs)
1) Man Power
Total Variable Cost + Other
Cost
13,52,000
INCOME
Capacity for machine – 55 Kg/ hr
55 × 8 = 440 Kg / day
For 6th
Month
160 Days × 440 = 70,400 Kg pulp
1 Kg Pulp = 90 Rs.
70,400 × 90 = 63,36,000
Profit = Total Income – Total Cost
63,36,000 – (24,40,000 + 13,52,000) = 25,44,000
BCR
Total Income /Total Cost
63,36,000 /37,92,000

VIEW ON FUTURE EXPANSION OF
PROJECT, ADOPTION & MARKETING
NETWORK OF THE PROJECT WORK:
 After successful establishment of project I will export
products in international market.
 I will adopt contract farming.
 I will put salesmen for marketing in rural area.
 More emphasis should be given on quality and price.
 For technical knowledge
 Fruit Processing unit NAU, Navsari
 For marketing/advertising
 a. Newspaper, Leaflets
 b. local TV Channel operators
 For Input and Raw material
 Mango growers , Local APMC.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ANY ATTEMT FOR VALUE ADDITION SHOULD BE FOCUS FOR
FOLLOWING PARAMETER:
 UNIQUE-The product we develop should be one of its own kinds
for which crop & variability indigenous to our country should be
exploited.
 NOVELTY-The product should be new & unusual like blue or
black rose & likewise so that no one can compete.
 EXPORT POTENTIAL-The product developed should have
demand in international market for higher return.
 HIGH VALUE-The product should have high value for low
volume for ease of trading & distribution.
 AVAILABILITY-Consistent availability of the product in
required quantity should be ensured for stable market & faith.
 MARKET-Any product that is developed must have market
because market is key for the success of any product.
Conclusions
The growth of the Mango Pulp industries in south Gujarat will
bring large benefits to the people by way of employment and
income.
Contract farming should be promoted to ensure timely and
adequate supply of raw material to the processing industry.
Government should promote the production of mango and other
horticultural commodities in the region to promote adequate
supply of raw material throughout the year for increasing the
capacity utilization of the firms.
For making a quantum jump in exports there is a need to
formulate a suitable export strategy and strengthening of
infrastructure facilities.
Thank You. . . !
