Glenn Murcutt was born in London in 1936 and grew up in New Guinea, moving to Sydney as a child with his family to escape the Pacific War. He decided to become an architect at age 15 and later designed notable houses for his brother and mother in 1969 that brought him recognition. Murcutt is renowned for his environmentally-friendly designs that use low-impact materials and harmonize with the natural landscape through features like horizontal corrugated iron, slatted roofs, and wide eaves. He has won several prestigious architecture awards including the Pritzker Prize.
