The SKA project aims to build the world's largest radio telescope called the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) at a cost of $20 billion, which will be completed by 2024. Over a dozen countries and nearly 100 organizations are collaborating on building the SKA and its precursor, the MeerKAT radio telescope located in South Africa's Karoo region. The MeerKAT array currently under construction will have 64 dishes and conduct pioneering science as the SKA project progresses towards building a telescope ten thousand times more powerful than current ones.
