Universal Pictures is a film company that was originally founded
on 30th April 1912 in California, United States. The CEO of
Universal Pictures is Ronald Meyer since August 1995 as he is still
the CEO of the film company. The first feature filmed at Universal
City was Damon and Pythias in 1914. Universal Studios Hollywood
started out as simply the Studio Tour in 1964, giving guests a
behind-the-scenes glimpse at movie and television production
and few years later they started to take it more seriously and
making big films and starting to become big in the film industry
and cinematic world. Just in fact, Universal Pictures itself had been
classified as one out of the big six film companies and one of the
biggest distribution companies that sell the film to a specific
audience through the internet using social media , trailers and
even merchandise online for the specific film they are focused on.
The company became so big in the 100 years of cinematic work,
that the company themselves have their specialised themed parks
around the world with different types of entertainment for
different films they are self promoting, all the entertainment
depends on the film target audience, all depending how they
would be interested on the film.
3. WALT DISNEY PICTURES
The Walt Disney Company is a mass media company and it was first
founded on the 16th October 1923 in Los Angeles, California, United
States. The CEO of the Walt Disney company is Bob Iger. Walt Disney
began developing his skill as a cartoonist as a young kid. Disney’s French
family name was originally D’Isigny before being Anglicized to Disney.
Disney’s very first animation studio was Laugh-O-Gram, where he began
telling modernized fairy tales based on Aesop’s Fable (a trend Disney
continued) before the studio quickly went bankrupt, however this was not
a motivation for him to quit. Mickey Mouse wasn’t Disney’s first iconic
character. Mickey’s predecessor, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, was created
while Disney was under contract with Universal Pictures. Disney was a
pioneer for children's television entertainment, airing unique
programming for kids such as Zorro, Davy Crockett, and The Mickey
Mouse Club. Disney received more Academy Awards and nominations
than has anyone else. Between 1932 and 1969, he won 22 Academy
Awards and was nominated 59 times, postmortemly rubbing salt in the
wounds of Leonardo DiCaprio. Disney held the patent for Technicolor for
two years, making him the only animator allowed to make colour
animated films!
4. WARNER BROS. PICTURES
Warner Bros. Pictures was founded on the 4th April in 1923.
Warner Bros. Entertainment is a broad-based entertainment
company, is a global leader in all of entertainment and their
businesses across all current and emerging media and platforms. It
all begun when the brothers Warner (Albert, Sam, Harry and Jack
L.) incorporated their fledgling movie company in 1923. In 1927,
the release of the world’s first ‘talkie’ which is a synchronized-
sound featured film. This was when the company became so
success till today and the company itself is highly recognised as
diversified and successful motion picture and television studios in
the world. As well as they are one out of the six best production
companies in the world and in the film industry. Warner Bros.
Pictures became a distribution company themselves. They are the
industry’s preeminent creator and distributor of feature films,
television programs, animation, video and DVD. Since the early
days, Warner Bros. Studios has had impressive legacy on based on
world class quality of visual entertainment and technological
foresight and created a diversified entertainment company with an
unparalleled depth and breadth.
5. LIONSGATE
Lionsgate is an entertainment company corporation. They are
originally an American, Canadian-domiciled entertainment and
media company. Lionsgate was originally founded on the 3rd July
1997 in Vancouver, Canada by Frank Glustra. However, the current
CEO is Jon Felthelmer since March 2000. This entertainment
company is huge and best known by being the pioneer of be most
known Netflix series; “Orange is the New Black”. Lionsgate also
works with the second highest-rated premium pay television
series of 2016, Power. Lionsgate company has been announced to
be leading the next generation content platform whose films,
television series and digital product touch consumers all over the
world. The company’s portfolio of businesses encompasses a film
slate that generates nearly $2 billion per year at the box office.
Lionsgate is one of the largest independent television businesses
in the world, a 16,000 title film and television library, a premium
pay television network going up for nearly 25 million subscribers.

6. DREAMWORKS ANIMATION
DreamWorks Animation is an animation company that is currently
owned by Christopher DeFaria since January 2017. By their own
audience, DreamWorks is also known as DreamWorks Studios; DW
II Distribution Co. LLC; DreamWorks SKG; and DW Studios.
DreamWorks is a film producer that makes films and video games
too. DreamWorks was founded in 1994 by Steven Spielberg,
Jeffery Katzenberg and David Geffen. DreamWorks released their
first film in September 1997 called ‘The Peacemaker’. SKG in the
name “DreamWorks Animation SKG” stands for Spielberg,
Katzenberg and Geffen. DreamWorks was sold to Paramount
Pictures film studio in 2006. Walt Disney film studio currently
distributes DreamWorks’ film products. DreamWorks studio is
located in Universal City, California, United States of America.
DreamWorks won Academy Award for Best Picture, three years in
a row, for ‘American Beauty’ in 1999, ‘Gladiator’ in 2000 and ‘A
Beautiful Mind’ in 2001.In 2012, DreamWorks had approximately
80 employees. The first film released under their name banner
‘DreamWorks’ was “The Girl on the Train” based on The New York
Times best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins. The film was released o
October 7, 2016 in the U.S.
7. 20TH CENTURY FOX
20th Century Fox is one of the big six film companies has already 75 years
of filmmaking history and it all started when they we’re formed on the 31st
May 1935 by Stacey Snider. From the 20th Century Fox history, Fox left
New York in 1915 for the sunny skies of Los Angeles. There he discovered
and shaped the screen’s first movie stars including the cowboy Tom Mix.
Merging with rising movie powerhouse Twentieth Century Pictures,
founded in 1935 by Darryl F. Zanuck and Joseph M. Schenck, they
renamed 20th Century Fox began an unprecedented run of unforgettable
movies that continue to this day. When the musical films start to be
released, Fox got given the Academy Award winning Sound of Music,
considered by many to be the best musical of all time. Fox was the first
production film that showed the world the first new version of Science
Fiction (sci-fi) with Star Ward and ushered in the modern action hero with
the Die Hard series. Great comedy films like Home Alone and Ms.
Doubtfire became instant classics and brought families back to the
theatres to enjoy watching films. In the future, 20th Century Fox claim that
they will ne experimenting more films, especially animated films and
normal liv action films with special effects and exploring the use of the
newest technology in the film industry.
8. COLUMBIA
Columbia Pictures Entertainment is an American company that
was formed in 1920. Columbia Pictures Entertainment is known
specifically for being an American motion-picture studio that
became a major Hollywood studio under it’s long time president,
Harry Cohn. Back in 1920 when Cohn, Joe Brandt and Harry’s
brother Jack Cohn founded the C.B.C. Sales Film Corporation to
produce shorts and low-budget western and comedies. In an
attempt to refurbish the studio’s reputation. A few years later,
back in 1924 the name was changed into Columbia Pictures.
Brandt was the company president from 1924 to 1932, but Cohn
was the main one that focused on the driving force behind
Columbia’s rise to a position of equality with the other major
Hollywood studios. Cohn served as a president from 1932 until his
death in 1958. Columbia Pictures Entertainment was brought by
The Coca-Cola Company in 1982, in the same year, Columbia
helped launch a new motion-picture studio. Tri-Star Pictures,
which was merged with Columbia in 1987 to form Columbia
Pictures Entertainment, Inc. in 1989 Columbia was acquired by the
Sony Corporation of Japan.
9. FOCUS FEATURES
Focus Features is a recent film company, it was originally formed
in 2012 by David Linde by the headquarters in California in the
United States. Focus Features originally makes acquires and
releases movies from rising and established talent and filmmakers.
The company is currently moving forward with a diverse slate of
wide release appealing to a range moviegoers. As they stay true to
the company roots, the slate will also include several specialty
films each year. Focus Features is part of the NBCUniversal, one of
the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the
development, production and marketing of entertainment, news
and information to the global audience, as they have a range of
audience. NBCUniversal owns and operates a owns an important
portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a
premiere motion picture company, significant television
production operations, a leading television stations group, world-
reowned theme parks and a suite of leading internet- based
businesses. They have released a lot of films that became really
big within their audience they we’re trying to achieve, through the
web via internet and through the word of mouth. NBCUniversal is
a subsidiary Comcast Corporation.
10. PIXAR
Pixar was firstly formed in 1979, and soon after became the computer
graphics division of Lucas film. Pixar Animation Studios is know as “The
Computer Graphics Division”. In the early days, Pixar produced computer
animation sequences for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Star Wars:
Return of the Jedi (1983) and Young Sherlock Holmes (1985). The
company sold high-end computer imaging software and hardware such as
Pixar Image Computer. Steve Jobs brought Pixar For $5 million on
February 3th 1986. That’s the equivalent of roughly $10.7 million in 2015.
From that Pixar company lost a lot of money in its first year once Jobs
brought the company. The 1986 Pixar short film Luxor Jr. as a defining film
for the company in many ways. The plot involves a young, energetic lamp
that struggles to play with a ball as an older lamp looks on. It was the Pixar
film to be nominated for an Academy Award, in the category of Best
Animated Short. The smaller lamp, Luxo Jr., went on to become a
permanent part of Pixar’s logo after the release of Toy Story in 1995. Since
their creation, Luxo Jr. and Sr. have made several cameos in Pixar’s feature
films and shorts. A red version of Luxo Sr. can be seen on Andy’s desk in
all three Toy Story films, including the 1996 Toy Story Treats shorts.
11. Paramount Pictures is a film company that was originally founded
on the 8th May 1912 in Los Angeles, California, United States. This
is an American film company and it has been a subsidiary of the
American media conglomerate Viacom since 1994, ‘Paramount
Picture’ is also known as ‘Paramount Pictures Corporation’ and
‘Paramount’. Paramount Pictures was founded by Adolph Zukor, a
Hungarian in 1912, however the original name was the ‘Famous
Players Film Company’ which merged to form Paramount in 1916.
Paramount Pictures brought DreamWorks SKG, in 2005, for $1.6
billion, although DreamWorks became independent only in a few
years. The mountain featured on the ‘Paramount Pictures’ logo.
Has been used in some form in the company’s logo since it was
founded and is the longest existing original icon in Hollywood film
industry. In the world, there are only four other studios that are
older than Paramount Pictures. Everyday for two hours, the
Paramount Pictures studio opens the door to any visitors to visit
the studio and to look around the working place. The first
Paramount Pictures film was a French silent film named The Loves
of Queen Elizabeth, in 1912.
