2. Extract initiates with a medium shot along with deep focus which reveals every exact
detail of the room in which the protagonist is laid back on the couch. This technique
allows the audience to intake the surroundings of the women reading a book and
makes the ordinary seem extraordinary.
The depth of field is large and shows off the whole room, the rule of thirds is
obviously applied. Through the use of lighting, the left hand side of the shot is darker
and progresses to lighter as we go further to the right. This invites audiences to
interpret that something is bound to happen where its dark as we cannot really see
what is there. This also allows the audience to know and intake who the protagonist is
within this short film and who to follow throughout.

3. lighting
In this moment of the short film, a mixture of both editing and low key lighting is emerged to
construct a deep dark hole which lures the audience in to try and have a glimpse of what lays
ahead. Through lighting it reveals a mysterious shadows in which looks as if it goes down deep –
this was a great technique used as the protagonist drops a object down here and made the
ordinary seem extraordinary as the object has a air time of approximately 4 seconds.

4. Moreover, this frame is a medium close up which uses shallow focus. Through
the use of shallow focus, it portrays to the audience the protagonists facial
expressions revealing her emotions. For this shot, we read off her face that she is
frightened as well as confused and has just witnessed something bizarre. Again,
through the use of shallow focus it allows the foreground (her face) to be on
focus as the background is out of focus(blurred) which makes the ordinary seem
extraordinary.
