2. As a group i felt that we managed
group dynamics, equipment and
resources, interim deadlines and the
necessarily collaborative nature of film
making very well. For instance we
managed the equipment and resources out
by setting up a shot list.
In this shot list we included where
everyone and everything had to be and at
what time. This included
characters, equipment, locations and props.
We even go into detail about what type of
lighting is going to be at the locations.
These shot lists are always used in
professional media as a way of keeping
track on where everyone and everything is.
3. At the start of this course we were given an interim deadlines list,
Research - 6/1/09
Step outline, storyboards, script - 16/1/09
Preliminary exercise filming - 16/1/09
Preliminary exercise editing - 23/1/09
All planning done, ready to film - 23/1/09
Filming deadline - 23/2/09
First cut - 6/3/09
Final cut - 13/3/09
Evaluation - 23/3/09
Parents evening - 26/3/09
We have stayed as close as we can for as many of those
dates meeting most targets as they passed. The only
deadline we missed was the final cut we missed this by a
few days due to a computer technical problem at school.
4. When we started filming we came across one
major health and safety issue, the wires that
connect all the cameras to the microphones
were loose and easy to fall over so we decided
for the next lot of filming we did that we would
tape all the wires down. To go alongside this
we also conducted a risk assessment form.
5. The storyboarding and scripting went well.
Although it did look a bit childish. We were
running out of time so therefore didn't put as
much effort in as we needed to concentrate more
on other planning things. If i had enough time now
to go back and recreate the storyboards again i
would. The scripting went well in my opinion. Our
script writer has been doing drama for a number of
years now, this played to our advantage as
Matthew knew perfectly how to set out the script.
We all came up with the ideas that eventually went
into our production to this was a really team effort.
6. As a group we all came up with an initial idea:
“filmed in hospital ward/room panning around a man in a
hospital bed. Whilst panning around we would flash back to
man being chased by what looked to be gangsters.”
But when we thought this idea through we thought that it
would be just to unrealistic to do because we couldn't create
the mise en scene of the hospital. We also thought about
doing a scene where a man jumps off a building. But as we
are not Hollywood and don't have millions of pounds to
spend on stunt men we though that it would be too hard to
try and create this. That is why we stuck to the second idea.
7. Time management was a big area for us as we
didn't want to loose any marks here. Us and our
teacher came up with a few ways that we could
stick to the timings. We used shot lists and interim
deadlines the shot lists mainly helped us to stay
organised. Whereas the deadlines were there to
help us focus as we know that a deadline was
coming up therefore we need to get this this and
this done. As a group it all came up good. we only
missed one deadline, that was for the final cut.
This was only because we were re-filming and re-
editing the bits that we and the people that looked
at the opening sequence didn't like.
