(a) Explain the various engine-starting systems. [10] (b) Discuss the contribution of Otto Lilienthal in the eld of aeronautics. Who made the further contributions in the work eld of Otto Lilienthal ? Explain. [6] 2. De ne an aircraft. How do you classify the various ight vehicles ? [16] 3. Describe a rate of climb indicating instrument. How is it similar to or di erent from an Air speed indicator? Make use of sketches. - [16] 4. What is understood by the term “STABILITY OF ATMOSPHERE”? Work out the conditions under which atmosphere is stable. [16] 5. Discuss the di erent types of ribs and spars used in all metal aircraft wing. Also draw a neat sketch for each type. [16] 6. What are the general types of construction of wings and fuselage, give practical examples of each type with neat sketches. [16] 7. What are the various components of turboprop engine? Describe them brie y. Discuss the di erent types of turboprop engines. [16] 8. What are the di erent types of rockets? Discuss their relative merits and applica- tions.
