2. What you will gain from this newsletter ??
This newsletter will enlighten you about the project that your 4th grader will be beginning. This
unit is entitled “Oh, the Places You Can Go”. During this project your student will use their
imagination to plan a trip to a destination of their choice. The assignment will last approximately
two weeks total. By the end of this presentation you will be fully aware of the expectations of your
child throughout this project.
3. What is the objective for this unit?
Students will be able to effectively search and utilize the internet to determine a historical location that
they would like to visit. They will utilize the internet to create a realistic budget, itinerary for their trip
and what the weather is going to be like at the student’s destination. Students will be able to use
unique math skills to calculate said budget. Students will be able to tell about their location and
present it to the class. After project is completed students will upload their presentation the class
website.
4. What will your 4th Grader be
responsible for during this unit?
Your 4th grader will be responsible for creating a trip to a destination of their choice with their
assigned group. They will need to use technology to research destinations to decide exactly where
they want to go. They will plan all aspects of the trip including but not limited to:

travel arrangements
budgets/currency
packing list
climate
attractions/landmarks
dining arrangements
lodging
Using powerpoint or google docs they will prepare a presentation, present it to the class, and
present it in groups to the class.
5. Parents’ Role
Parental assistance is essential when it comes to matters of growth and learning. You should be
available to answer any questions that your 4th grader might have about traveling and planning a
trip. You will also play a vital role in ensuring that your 4th grader is aware of how to create a
realistic budget.
6. Presentation
Students will be expected to work with their respective groups to create a
presentation of their research. They will be required to present their findings
to the class, as well as upload the presentation to our class website. Parents
are welcomed and encouraged to come watch the students’ presentations!
