Province of Laguna
is located southeast of
Metro Manila, the capital
of the Philippines. Laguna
was named after the
Spanish word “laguna”
which literally means
lagoon or lake. The
province’s previous
complete name given by
the Spaniards was “La
Provincia de la Laguna de
Bay.” Laguna was
founded in July 28, 1571.
It is now more than 400
years old (435 years old)
as a province.
Mt. Makiling
is a potentially active volcano in Laguna
province on the island of Luzon,
Philippines. It rises to 1,090 m above
mean sea level.Since its adoption as a
protected area by the University of the
Philippines, Mt. Makiling has become
one of the “mainstay” destinations for
mountaineers, as well as scientists and
tourists. The forest, which was restored
during the 1910s, remains in pristine
condition; a plethora of birds, reptiles,
and other fauna continue to thrive in
Makiling. Due to its popularity, the trails
leading to Peak 2 are well-established,
and no guide is necessary to climb the
mountain. Although extensive damage
was wrought by typhoon ‘Milenyo’ in
2006, as of the 2009 climbing season the
UPLB trail has recovered and is now
open for climbing. Mount Makiling in
Laguna is a legendary mountain named
after its mystical dweller and protector -
Maria Makiling. In fact, Mount Makiling
is an inactive volcano. The mountain is
ideal for hiking, camping, trekking,
mountain biking, and bird watching.
MT.BANAHAW
is actually a volcano
and has been one of
the favorite trekking
and hiking spots for
thrill -seekers. For
locals, it is considered
a pilgrimage and they
even call it ‘Holy
Mountain’. Some
even believe that
there were a number
of apparitions that
happened in the area.
Makiling Botanic
Garden
located inside the
University of the Philippines
Los Baños Campus, an area
where you will see diverse
flora and fauna. Enjoy
unique and exotic plant
species that you haven’t
seen. Take photos of them,
breathe fresh air,
appreciate nature and walk
around the garden. It is best
to go there in the morning
to see its beauty. It was also
designated as a tourist
destination and as
educational and
recreational facility for the
general public since 1965.
VILLA ESCUDERO
IN SAN PABLO CITY
A huge coconut plantation which
is located in 3 municipalities and 2
provinces (San Pablo City in
Laguna, Tiaong and Dolores in
Quezon). If you want to
experience and see a part of the
Philippine culture, then a trip to
Villa Escudero is recommended.
You can ride the local jeepneys to
go around, you can also visit
museums and can even satisfy
your cravings for Filipino food.Villa
Escudero also has the country’s
first hydro – electric plant, Labasin
Dam. However, in the recent
years, more than half of the
property was converted into an
exclusive residential estate
development.
PAGSANJAN FALLS
This is considered as one of
the most famous falls in the
country and located in the
“Tourist Capital of Laguna”,
Pagsanjan. To reach the
falls, one would need to
ride a boat and the
‘bangkeros’ or boatmen will
happily serve as your tour
guides. If you are up for a
wet and thrilling adventure,
then going to Pagsanjan
falls is a must. The original
name of Pagsanjan Falls in
Laguna is Magdapio Falls.
LAKE CALIRAYA IN
LUMBAN
is a man-made lake situated
in the municipalities
of Lumban, Cavinti,
and Kalayaan in Laguna
province, Philippines.
Created in 1939, the lake
has developed as a popular
spot for water sports and
outdoor recreation
including fishing.
Surrounding the lake are a
number of resorts catering
to tourists and vacation
homes abound because of
the beautiful scenery and
favorable climate.
Taytay Falls
Located at Barangay Gagalot,
Majayjay, Laguna, Taytay falls
has some of the clearest
waters. The water flows from
Mt. Banahaw, through the
mountain’s lush and
untouched forest which
keeps the water clear even
during heavy rains. The water
temperature is extremely
cold even during summer
but, for people who are not
used to cold water, they can
still take a swim for a few
minutes before their teeth
should start chattering.
JAPANESE GARDEN
IN CAVINTI
memorial park built by
the Japanese
government in the
1970s. History buffs
should go to Japanese
Garden in Cavinti as
this was established as
a remembrance of
Japanese soldiers who
died during the 2nd
World War. Some
folks say that the
famous Yamashita
treasure is hidden
somewhere here.
Nagcarlan Underground
Cemetery
is one-of-a-kind cemetery in
the country. The octagonal
stonewall, red-bricked
pathway, and a view of
spacious green lawn brings you
back to history. You won’t even
feel it was a cemetery not until
you enter the underground
crypt. Flash photography is not
allowed inside the premises.
This underground cemetery
took part in the Philippine
history as the revolutionary
leaders in Laguna namely
Severino Taino and Pedro
Paterno used the cemetery as
meeting area in drafting the
initial plans for the pact of
Biak-na-Bato that happened in
1897. The cemetery was built
during the 18th century,

place where you go to when you
need to escape the city. Kids can

a horse and pet the bunnies. At less
than an hour driving south from
Makati, you enter paradiseThe
children will enjoy the mini petting
zoo with guinea pigs and rabbits,
the ride in a cart pulled by a
carabao, the obstacle course, the
zip line, the sandbox, a ride on the

rope bridge. You might fall in, but
then that just adds to the fun!
You can even try to catch your own
fish! Fishing rods, hooks and
worms are waiting for you. And if
you are scared to touch the worms,
one of the kuyas will be there to
help you hook it on.
Hidden Valley

Luisiana
Hulugan Falls
is the more spectacular of
the two, with its steep drop
from high above a cliff. The
short trek to the waterfall
is part of the adventure.
The surrounding rock
formations and vegetation
crawling up, add a touch of
wildness to an otherwise
touristy destination.
Visitors have to trek an
hour or so through
concrete, then rocks, grass
and dirt roads before
getting to the falls. There is
also a short walk down
makeshift stairs. The
refreshing waters of
Hulugan revitalize tired
and aching muscles.
Luisiana, laguna.
Thank
you!!
