How much do you know about oil?
Oil is usually found under the sea. We call the
place that we collect oil a well. People collect oil
by drilling the deep holes until they have reached
it than they use large pumps to get oil. Before it
was gathered, it was trapped in between layers
of rock. The history of oil started as animals,
plants died at sea and few years later, animals
died and millions of years later, they became oil.

How is oil collected & modified?
Oil is a smelly, dark and slippery liquid. It is also called fossil fuel
because remains of animals and plants make it even before
dinosaurs had appeared. It burns easily but it can’t mix with
water.

Why do we depend on the oil industry?
An oil is a very vaulable finite resources for us because 40% of earth’s energy
is from oil. And almost everything that we uses include crude oil or oil
products.Oils are seperated into gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, tur, chemicals
and other petroluem products that is most used for energy.These kind of oil
products can make ink, plastic and eyglasses. That’s why life will be harder
without oil. Your Plastic bottle, DVD, umbrella and even fridge would be
gone.We also need a lot of people to work on oil wells and refineries (so the
oild industry provides important jobs for people).
How could this resource be managed
better?
What is the impact of this industry?
This is industry is not sustainable because
scientists says that oil will be run out in 2100s, it
can be make again but it is hard. That’s why we call
this non-renewable energy source. It is also bad for
the earth because it causes
global warming and if the oil spill when you
transfer oil, it damages ocean and rivers.
Now, scientists and engineers are using new ways to get more oil
from drilling one oil well. And after that there is no more oil in
the oil well, they change it to the shelter for the sea animals. They
are discovering the new technologies to make oil cleaner and
safer to use.
