2. 25 At that time Jesus said, âI praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and
earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent
and have revealed them to infants. 26 âYes, Father, for this way was
well-pleasing in Your sight.

3. 18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom;
23but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to
Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews
and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

5. 15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted together how they might trap
Him in what He said. 16 And they sent their disciples to Him, along with
the Herodians, saying, âTeacher, we know that You are truthful and
teach the way of God in truth, and defer to no one; for You are not
partial to any. 17 âTell us then, what do You think? Is it lawful to give a
poll-tax to Caesar, or not?â 18 But Jesus perceived their malice, and
said, âWhy are you testing Me, you hypocrites? 19 âShow Me the coin
used for the poll-tax.â And they brought Him a denarius. 20 And He
said to them, âWhose likeness and inscription is this?â 21 They said to
Him, âCaesarâs.â Then He said to them, âThen render to Caesar the
things that are Caesarâs; and to God the things that are Godâs.â 22 And
hearing this, they were amazed, and leaving Him, they went away.

6. 12 So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and
reclined at the table again, He said to them, âDo you know what I have
done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for
so I am. 14 If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you
also ought to wash one anotherâs feet. 15 For I gave you an example
that you also should do as I did to you.â

9. 3 And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, âBehold, the
sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the
road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 âOthers fell on the rocky
places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they
sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. 6 âBut when the sun had
risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they
withered away. 7 âOthers fell among the thorns, and the thorns came
up and choked them out. 8 âAnd others fell on the good soil and
yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. 9âHe
who has ears, let him hear.â

10. 10 And the disciples came and said to Him, âWhy do You speak to
them in parables?â 11 Jesus answered them, âTo you it has been
granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it
has not been granted. 12 For whoever has, to him more shall be given,
and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what
he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in
parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing
they do not hear, nor do they understand.â

27. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His
eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being
understood through what has been made, so that they are without
excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as
God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and
their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they
became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for
an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed
animals and crawling creatures.

ought to keep calm and to do nothing rash.â

29. Spontaneous generation is discussed as a fact in literature
well into the Renaissance. Where, in passing, Shakespeare
discusses snakes and crocodiles forming from the mud of
the Nile, Izaak Walton again raises the question of the origin
of eels, "As rats and mice, and many other living creatures,
are bred in Egypt, by the sun's heat when it shines upon the
overflowing of the river...". While the ancient question of
the origin of eels remained unanswered and the additional
idea that eels reproduced from corruption of age was
mentioned, the spontaneous generation of rats and mice
engendered no debate. Slide 29 of 41

Colonize Mars in the next century or watch as life on
Earth fizzles out. After last year claiming that humans
have 1,000 years left on Earth, Hawking says in a new
documentary that we instead have about 100 years until
we'll need to jump ship as Earth is overwhelmed by
overpopulation, climate change, disease, and artificial
intelligence. - FoxNews.com

34. 4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag
and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its
own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
6does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things. 8 Love never fails...

36. 26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his
tongue but deceives his own heart, this manâs religion is worthless.

37. 14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has
no works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without
clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, âGo
in peace, be warmed and be filled,â and yet you do not give them what
is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17 Even so faith, if it has
no works, is dead, being by itself. 18 But someone may well say, âYou
have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and
I will show you my faith by my works.â

38. 18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is
wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is
written, âHe is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR
CRAFTINESSâ; 20 and again, âTHE LORD KNOWS THE
REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS.â

39. 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater
of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For
since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come
to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the
message preached to save those who believe. 22 For indeed Jews ask
for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ
crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but
to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of
God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is
wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

40. 1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of
speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2 For I
determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him
crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much
trembling, 4 and my message and my preaching were not in
persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of
power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on
the power of God.

Editor's Notes
Unlike the Old Testament that contains a collection of entire books that are classified as, âWisdom Literatureâ, the wisdom of the New Testament is dispersed throughout several books.
The four gospels show us the mind and the life of Christ Who was in the beginning as Co-Creator. The wisdom of the Creator of all things showed a wisdom that was contrary in every way to that of man.
The parables of Jesus parallel events in everyday life clearly illustrated important lessons about the kingdom. Most of the parables illustrated ideas about the coming Kingdom the church, sowing the seed of the gospel, or preparing for the day of judgment.
Starting with the nine beatitudes, Jesusâ sermon on the mount, was a collection of short expressions of wisdom, similar to those found in the book of Proverbs or Ecclesiastes.
His short parable like statements to His disciples were clear and to the point. -->
Christâs restatement of the Old Law brought to life a law written in stone. -->
When Jesus had finished his sermon, the multitude was in awe.
Proverbs tells us that the wise are able win souls. -->
Paul devoted three epistles to the wisdom of teaching others. Like, âA wise master builderâ he passed on the key to the perpetual growth of the kingdom. -->
The so-called wisdom of man has been around since the beginning. This wisdom convinced Eve that, âYou surely will NOT die.â This same wisdom worshiped the created beings rather than the Creator. -->
Where are the idols and superstitious beliefs of the great Epicurean and Stoic philosophers of Paulâs time, or the worshipers of Artemis whose image had fallen down from heaven, an âUndeniable factâ as believed by the Ephesians. -->
Then came along the great scientific minds of the Renaissance, that could not accept God as the Creator of all things, but instead gave us such profound teachings as the theory of Spontaneous Generation. -->
Walton, Izaak (1903) [1653]. "XIII. Observations of the eel, and other fish that want for scales, and how to fish for them".
The great scientific minds of today are unhampered by the âsuperstitionsâ of Christianity. -->
Stephen Hawking, noted theoretical physicist
Note: It seems that we are already overtaken by âintelligenceâwhich is artificial! Never has a generation come so far. This great intellect has developed into its own religion called Humanism whose god is man himself.
This great freedom of thought has given us rampant immorality, epidemic sexually transmitted disease, and an astronomical number of aborted babies. -->
US population for 2017 = 326,474,013. We are left with the grave without a resurrection, a universe without a Divine Creator, and sin without a Savior (A.W. Pitzer). The so-called wisdom of man pales in comparison to the wisdom found in the New Testament that results in instructions for everyday living that only improves our life. [SEE OUTLINE]
The inspired writings of James, replaces the 1st century Gnostic claim of divine wisdom belonging only to the highly educated, to something that is attainable by the simple faithful Christian.
James addresses the false teaching of the Gnostic of the day by showing the folly of simply thinking oneself to be religious
[READ CONCLUSION FROM OUTLINE]
It is nice to hear, âThat was a great lessonâ but it is much more rewarding to hear, âthat lesson truly inspired me to make a change in my life!â Has the simple message of the cross truly touched your heart to the point that you are willing to make a change in your life? Are you willing to finally turn your life over to Christ and be a living sacrifice?
