Pozzolanic reaction is manily occured by the addition of pozzolans. Generally pozzolans are fly ash, gypsum, laterite, iron ore mixing with limestone and silica in varying percentage.
Chemical reaction
Ca(OH) 2 + H 4 SiO 4 = CaH 2 SiO 4 .2H 2 O
Types of pozzolans used are
1. Fly ash : Function of flyash increases the strength of cement.
2 .Rice hull Ash
3. Silica flume
Advantage:
1. Increases the strength and reduces the permeability.
Disadvantage:
1. As the high carbon content in pozzolan which results in use of more water and darken the concrete.
