Albert Einstein was born in Germany in 1879. As a student, he showed interest in geometry, algebra, and calculus. He entered the Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich in 1900 to become a teacher of math and chemistry, but was unable to obtain a position at the university. Einstein made important discoveries about kinetic energy, the speed of light, mass, and that matter can be converted to energy and vice versa. These nuclear reactions and discoveries led to the development of the atomic bomb, with two being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Einstein's equations relate to Unit 2 as the formulas use algebra, with each letter representing a value of the quantities.
