1. WHY DID WILSON WANT A ‘LEAGUE OF
NATIONS’?
MAIN ARGUMENT – world peace
Wilson thought that a league of nations would help to ensure
world peace in the future. By representatives from all nations
meeting regularly, he believed that problems could be
discussed, and solutions found to disputes without the need for
nations to resort to war.’
SECOND ARGUMENT – facilitate trade and business
Wilson thought this would help to achieve world peace. Wilson
thought this would strengthen democracy. Wilson thought it
would encourage international co-operation. Wilson thought it
would help business and trade between countries. Wilson
thought it would encourage nations to disarm. Wilson thought
this would strengthen relations between countries.
THIRD ARGUMENT (CHOOSE ONLY 2)
Wilson thought this would help with humanitarian issues.
League of Nations was good in humanitarian work, very
efficient, so there was a need for that.
