Quiescent Solar Tracker (QST) Field Data
Why Sun Tracker?
The Sun’s trajectory is a factor of time of day, geographical
location and seasons.
The goal of all solar trackers is to follow the sun`s trajectory
and ensure that the solar panels are positioned for maximum
exposure to sunlight.
What’s Quiescent Solar Tracker
If we quietly achieve maximum exposure of sunlight on solar
modules by placing them in a way that it ‘follows’ the sun’s
trajectory, we call such a tracker system as Quiescent Solar
Tracker.

Quiescent Solar Tracker (QST) Field Data
Quiescent Solar Tracker System is an innovative technique of designing solar
structures to maximize the solar energy generation with gains of 24% to 39% over
and above standard generation, and with an average gain of 27% for an entire year
compared to the Fixed Angle N-S structures system followed in the solar industry. On
earth, for Northern hemisphere, QST technology will place solar panels facing south
east, south west, north and south directions. For the Southern hemisphere, QST
technology will have north east, north west, north and south direction. In both the
hemispheres, the angle of directions will change as per the local latitude in QST
technology approach. QST mounting structures generate more power compared to
Single and Dual axis tracker systems.

Series of Experiments
After the QST concept was first invented, a lab experiment was carried out to basically
demonstrate the first “Proof of Concept ” on 2watt solar cells with a voltage of 0.5volts
and 4amps current, the experiment was successfully done.
1st
EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT IN SEPTEMBER 2014
2nd EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT IN OCTOBER 2014
The second experiment(qst) was done with solar cells of size 10amps and 0.5 volts and
they were positioned in 4 directions(south east, south west, north and south) and the
same cells performance was compared by placing another 4 solar cells in southern
direction for testing.
This experiment (qst) was done with four 3watt solar panels placed in south east ,
south west , north and southern directions with capacity of 12watts, and in another
experiment four other solar panels were placed only in southern direction with
capacity of 12watts. The results were proven to be very positive for QST and the
results generated on this experiment is mentioned in the subsequent slides.

The percentage difference in QST technology generation efficiency from Morning
to Evening.
10
As per the chart shown in previous slide, the percentage difference of power output for
QST technology is more at morning and at evening because:
Quiescent Solar Tracker System(QST) is an innovative technique of designing solar mounting
structures in order to maximize the solar energy generation with a range of 24% to 39% and
with an average gain of 27% for the entire year as compared to the standard Fixed Angle N-
S tracker systems followed in the solar industry.
The percentage of gain of power output using QST technology is more at mornings and
evenings compared to standard orientation of panels in south direction used in Single/Dual
Axis Tracker systems.
Using QST technology solar panels are placed in different directions. In northern
hemisphere where India lies along with many other countries in the Indian sub-continent.
Mounting structures are designed for placing solar panels in south east for capturing
maximum sunlight, and panels placed in south and northern direction for capturing more
sunlight in the afternoon. Solar panels are placed in south west direction to capture more
sunlight in the evening.
In QST we place the solar panels in different directions such that “  Sun will track the solar
panels quietly instead of solar panel tracking the Sun”, this way QST maximizes the power
output when solar panels are in fixed position performing better than single and dual axis
trackers.

  • 2. Quiescent Solar Tracker (QST) Field Data Why Sun Tracker? The Sun’s trajectory is a factor of time of day, geographical location and seasons. The goal of all solar trackers is to follow the sun`s trajectory and ensure that the solar panels are positioned for maximum exposure to sunlight. What’s Quiescent Solar Tracker If we quietly achieve maximum exposure of sunlight on solar modules by placing them in a way that it ‘follows’ the sun’s trajectory, we call such a tracker system as Quiescent Solar Tracker. 2
  • 3. Quiescent Solar Tracker System on Rooftop Quiescent Solar Tracker System on ground Quiescent Solar Tracker (QST) Field Data Quiescent Solar Tracker System is an innovative technique of designing solar structures to maximize the solar energy generation with gains of 24% to 39% over and above standard generation, and with an average gain of 27% for an entire year compared to the Fixed Angle N-S structures system followed in the solar industry. On earth, for Northern hemisphere, QST technology will place solar panels facing south east, south west, north and south directions. For the Southern hemisphere, QST technology will have north east, north west, north and south direction. In both the hemispheres, the angle of directions will change as per the local latitude in QST technology approach. QST mounting structures generate more power compared to Single and Dual axis tracker systems. 3

  • 11. As per the chart shown in previous slide, the percentage difference of power output for QST technology is more at morning and at evening because: Quiescent Solar Tracker System(QST) is an innovative technique of designing solar mounting structures in order to maximize the solar energy generation with a range of 24% to 39% and with an average gain of 27% for the entire year as compared to the standard Fixed Angle N- S tracker systems followed in the solar industry.  The percentage of gain of power output using QST technology is more at mornings and evenings compared to standard orientation of panels in south direction used in Single/Dual Axis Tracker systems. Using QST technology solar panels are placed in different directions. In northern hemisphere where India lies along with many other countries in the Indian sub-continent. Mounting structures are designed for placing solar panels in south east for capturing maximum sunlight, and panels placed in south and northern direction for capturing more sunlight in the afternoon. Solar panels are placed in south west direction to capture more sunlight in the evening.  In QST we place the solar panels in different directions such that “  Sun will track the solar panels quietly instead of solar panel tracking the Sun”, this way QST maximizes the power output when solar panels are in fixed position performing better than single and dual axis trackers.   QST Power Generation… 11
