2. SNOWDONIA
Elevation 1,085 m (3,560 ft)
Snowdon (Welsh: Yr Wyddfa) is the highest
mountain in Wales, at an altitude of 1,085
metres (3,560 ft) above sea level, and the
highest point in the British Isles outside
Scotland. It is located in Snowdonia
National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri) in
Gwynedd, and has been described as
"probably the busiest mountain in Britain“.
It is designated as a national nature reserve
for its rare flora.
4. Castles
North Wales is famous for its historical castles.
Dolwyddelan built: 1210-1240 by Llewelyn the Great.
Conwy castle built: 1283-1289 by King Edward the 1st
Criccieth castle built: 1230-1280 by Llewelyn the Great +
Llewelyn the Last.
Harlech castle built: 1283-1287 by King Edward the 1st
Caernarfon Castle built:1228- 1233 by King Edward 1 st
5. Llangollen Eisteddfod
The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod
is a music festival which takes place every year
during the second week of July in Llangollen,
North Wales. Singers and dancers from around
the world are invited to take part in over 20
high quality competitions followed each
evening by concerts where the best and most
colourful competitors share the stage with
professional artists. Over five thousand singers,
dancers and instrumentalists from around 50
countries perform to audiences of more than
50,000 over the 6 days of the event.
