2. For our media A2 coursework, we had to make a teaser trailer. As well as making
a teaser we had to create a magazine cover and a movie poster. We had to make
sure that each of them compliment each other. While researching teaser trailers,
we identified that there is minimal exposure of the characters and a general
summary or hint to the story.
3. Our poster contains elements of the horror genre, subtly
connoting fear, dread and tension. Comparing it to
horror movie conventions they show very little, not
showing what film contains leaving the audience
suspended with interest. To follow those conventions
we decided to use half of the characters faces, also
using the black boarder to cut off there faces and it
connecting to the black undercut makes both the
images and text the bold. We chose the walls which
added to dark feel of the poster, using these
elements made it seem more like a horror movie. As
you can see from the La Haine picture there is also
minimal exposure of the characters face, the play on
black background and white text gives it a simplistic
look yet hooks the audience in because its appealing.
4. The magazine cover we decided to make modern using,
one of the faces from the poster as the base for the
magazine cover, reason for this is that looking at
magazine like empire they used a colour background or
design background but the persons body or face takes
up most of the magazine be like the base. We had
previously planned to use a minimalistic layout to avoid
any distraction from any of content.
We used sub headings to create punchier lines to draw the
audience in, same for the poster as we used a punchy
tagline like “Your next breath could be your last” ,
which we found in most in posters and magazines for
example Friday 13th.
We added mini some subheadings to give explanation
of what the subheading means, also the positioning to
make it more smart, clean and modern. The heading
“Hide and Seek” was complimented by the subheading
below it which makes the poster more interesting.
5. GM is an abbreviation of Galaxy
Media which is our production
company. We looked into
different production companies
which have their own logo that
is present in any posters, films
and trailers they produce.
Twisted pictures is an independent
production company that produced
the SAW franchise. The logo was
present at the start of every film just
as ours is displayed in the trailer and
corresponding poster.
