2. a video-sharing website on which users
can upload, view and share videos
We used YouTube to research horror film trailers. This
helped us to gain further understanding of the conventions
of the genre so we were able to incorporate it unto our
media project.
We also used the website to post our drafts online which
helped us gain audience feedback which we could use to
improve them and also work on our media piece from our
homes e.g. Timing, Pace and lighting options
3. We created a blog called Galaxy Media on
Blogger to document our research into horror
genres as well as our modifications to our
media project in various media platforms e.g.
Video and Imagery.
It’s accessibility was a great asset to us
because it enabled us to work on the blog
away from school and clarify where we were
in our production.
4. For the majority of our research, production and
evaluation media work, we used the iMacs provided
for media students in our school. As the computer
had the capability to alternate between both
Windows and Macintosh, we were well equipped to
conduct tasks on another operating system where it
would’ve have been more challenging to complete
on the other.
For instance, editing our pictures using a better
suited software such as Adobe Photoshop
5. We used a (JVC Everio GZ-HD40EK) to capture our
footage, immediately play it back for instant
discussion and transfer it easily to our iMac for
editing.
Each member of our group shared equal use of the
camera. In our filming sessions, we positioned it on
various media equipment in order to get the specific
shots we wanted, for example, we used the
monopod for high angle shots.
6. iMovie - a proprietary
video editing software
application sold by Apple
Inc.
We used this software to great effect during
most stages of our editing. We managed to use
it to sort through all of our clips, trim the clips
we decided to feature, add transitions to suit
the change in certain scenes and add music to
accompany the trailer. Its features were
7. This software is another application available on our
iMac which was used to create our musical score to
accompany the music. Charles used sample musical
beats to break down and edit the song. It allowed to
view whether it were in the time duration of the song,
making it more precise. Also, Shaquille managed to
include fade in and fade out, which smoothed out the
different music beats included in the OST.
8. This application was available on the iMac, used for our poster and magazine
front cover. Shaquille was able to use the images that we took of the cast and
was able to layer and cut them to form the poster and magazine cover. Using
some of the tools on Photoshop such as the text to and brushes the title billing
board, production logo , film title and tagline were also created using the feature
of downloading fonts to use in Photoshop. The brushes allowed us to create the
smear affect on the logo which made it look professional yet simplistic.
9. This is another Adobe software that was available on the iMac. This was used to
create a clan cut for the trailer. Adobe effect features allowed us to have a great
effect that made it look as though the film was losing signal between each clip.
Adobe’s dynamic linking allowed Shaquille to link files like the logo from
Photoshop to premiere, which left the image with the same resolution as it was
on Photoshop.
