A 25-years-old woman.
The patient was referred to us for
the assessment of a pigmented
lesion on the cheek 3 months
previously.
Examination revealed a single firm,
nontender, and 1.2 x 1.5 cm
nodule.
6. Giant Molluscum
Contagiosum
Molluscum contagiosum is a common
skin infection caused by DNA poxvirus.
It spreads by both sexual and nonsexual
route like direct contact with infected skin
or fomites.
After an average incubation period of
two to three months, flesh colored, dome
shaped, 3-5 mm sized papules with
central umbilication appear on the face,
trunk and exposed body parts.
7. Giant Molluscum
Contagiosum
Usually has a size that is between 2
and 4 mm in diameter, are uncommon
be larger than 1 cm in diameter.
In these cases, the molluscum
contagiosum may resemble a number
of other disorders, such as this
patient.
