2. Primary Research
● most readers of magazine such as the one above fall into the 17-30 age category
● they readers are mostly composed of men
● most are well educated with 34% being in a full time job 26% working part time and
18% being composed of full time students either attending university or college
● also most of the readers are interested in new media and independent film labels,
this suits their interest in indie music magazines.
● alot of the readers are dedicated to the magazine with either a yearly subscription or
a 6 month subscription package
● they also expect a certain type of magazine which suits their needs and wants they
will often experience; new tech, fashion, and film and new media
● since this is a higher priced magazine with more content it is safe to assume that the
majority of the readers either have a high disposable income, or a very strong
passion in indie music.
3. Secondary Audience Research
My secondary audience research allowed me
to discover what other magazines of a music
genre but not as specific allowed me to
understand a general age and gender of people
who are reading similar magazines.
4. Other Research
Font research consisted of looking at what
other magazines used for their fonts and the
typography of the magazine.
Genre research i looked into other genres of
magazines and i could get a clear idea of what
the audience wanted
5. Planning
The planning of my project consisted of two
stages of drawing rough plans of my front cover
and contents page, also drawing a basic
photoshop format of my initial plan which I
could then improve on.
