2. Compare and Contrast
Norway and USA
In the USA we have lots of opinions and facts
on what people believe to be the best
methods for child labor. Some believe in
home, all natural births. Others believe that a
hospital, drugged birth is ok and non harming
to your unborn child. What if we went to
another country? Would they have the same
mixed believes and facts we do? Today I’m
going to tell you about the similarities and
differences between Norway and the USA
prenatal and maternal healthcare systems.
3. First
I’m going to tell you about the typical
prenatal expectations in the USA. What’s
most recommended to, and not to do
during your pregnancy. Then I will tell you
about the the typical prenatal
expectations in Norway. And finally I will
tell you the similarities and differences in
costs of having a baby in the USA, and
Norway.
4. First I’m going to tell you about the typical
prenatal expectations in the USA.
Prenatal expectations vary for all women. But most
doctors agree on what is and what is not healthy during
a pregnancy. Not all prenatal methods are covered by
insurance, such as a prenatal vitamin. That is a vitamin
that has minerals and other nutrients that are good for
the mother and the developing fetus. Does health
coverage change if women are making health risking
decisions? Such as smoking Tobacco and drinking
alcohol? Sadly it does not. But If a newborn has effects
from alcohol or drug abused from their mother during
pregnancy, the mother can be charged, or even have
the baby taken away from her. Most health insurance
cover a percentage of prenatal care, but there are
tons that pay nothing or very little. Causing soon-to-be
parents to pay a lot of pocket.
5. Now I will tell you about the the typical
prenatal expectations in Norway.
Norway used to have the highest mortality rate in
Europe. What has changed that hey are now not
the highest. Good leadership and an effective
health service free at the point of delivery for all
citizens are the main factors behind this impressive
progress in relatively few years. You also have to
have a two year nursing degree to be able to be
a midwife. This training has helped with the proper
knowledge of what cares the mother and child
need. Over half of the births in Norway take place
in a hospital type setting.
6. And finally I will tell you the similarities and differences in
costs of having a baby in the USA, and Norway.
I
have already mentioned that in the USA
many insurances don’t cover much, if
anything for prenatal care and childbirth.
In Norway some of the families don’t pay
a dime out of pocket. Both are similar in
the fact most births take place in a
hospital like setting.
