Question 5. Explain ACID in the context of databases. Solution ACID means Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability. Atomicity means each transaction means all or nothing. This is done to ensure the integrity of data incase an operation fails midway. Consistency means you can include valid data in the database. Isolation means that even if the operation are executed parallely the final state of the database will bt the same if the operations were executed serially. Durability means that if an operation is committed once will remain even in cases of powerloss, crashes or unexpected errors..

  • 1. Question 5. Explain ACID in the context of databases. Solution ACID means Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability. Atomicity means each transaction means all or nothing. This is done to ensure the integrity of data incase an operation fails midway. Consistency means you can include valid data in the database. Isolation means that even if the operation are executed parallely the final state of the database will bt the same if the operations were executed serially. Durability means that if an operation is committed once will remain even in cases of powerloss, crashes or unexpected errors.
